Ive only had my Roku for a few days, setup was nice and easy, straight forward and to the point. I must say my perception of being a cord cutter is slightly different than the actual results, but I believe with the Roku's I'll get use to it fairly easily. My only wish was there was a way to setup filters in the search area to filter out anything that you have to pay for vs anything that's truly a free stream. Maybe Ill submit that in the feature request area for the next build.

Better than I expected

I am an older woman who wants modern things. I have been watching netflicks, amazon prime and other things on my ipad and don't own a smart tv yet. I researched apple TV and compared it to Roku by reading articles from independent reviewers. I bought Roku 4 and hooked it up myself (in 5 minutes) to my 6 year old HD TV and WOW!! I now have a smart TV that I can play everything on. I just went on my computer and added the channels I wanted - HBO go and Showtime Anytime and PBS and I am in TV heaven.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have only had the Roku 4 for a few days but am so impressed. The picture quality on my Sharp HD tv is significantly better than with the Roku 2. Not saying I was dissatisfied with the older product but was very pleased with the difference. Also I saw some reviews about the noise level of the Roku 4. My unit is silent. All in all I feel this was money well spent.

Sound handling is defective

Like many un-pleased customers, I have multiple Roku 3 units and I bought a Roku 4 hoping to get something even better. It is not. To make it short, the sound is defective (distorted on "forte") when dealing with music, and making it absolutely unsuitable as a music streaming device in a HiFi setup. Even musical movies suffer from its deficiency. And this trait does not exist on Roku 3. I have returned the Roku 4 and got a replacement Roku 4 with the exact same symptoms. The technical support is very kind but obviously located out the country and totally inefficient for anything but the basic question. Roku seem to consider that I am the only one to have some issue with the Roku 4, but looking at 800 customers reviews much less than positive there must be some reality. Let's be clear, ROKU 4 is A DUD! Get a Roku 3!

I'm most likely going to return it. I subscribed to Sling TV and can't see the picture a lot of the time due to buffering. For example, last night I finally saw a great looking picture and then it buffered about half way through the game I was watching. Took about 40 minutes to get a picture again. I know this isn't a Roku problem, but also not seeing much in Ultra HD either.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
