Easy Setup

I just got this ahead of buying a new TV that will use the 4K features. Easy to set up and operate. I love the headphone and voice search features of the remote.

I upgraded from my old Roku 1 which had done the job for years. What a difference. The features and function of the Roku 4 are absolutely mind boggling. Easy to install, easy to setup and a great leap forward in the tv viewing world. Should have done this long ago.

Picked up the Roku 4 for the sheer quantity of apps available, and also knowing that it would perform well when connected to a 4k tv. Still haven't hooked it to a 4k tv so can't review that aspect.
It was easy to setup and had not problems using the apps provided after login. The usual apps like Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu make it easy to sign on. They are usually provided on cellphone and tablets.
My one complaint is the M-Go app. Roku software insinuates the app into the main menu. This configuration only allows the Roku 4 login person access to your app. My wife has a M-Go account but cannot access her movies. There is no way for her to log onto the app.
Perhaps a future software update can fix this.
The included remote has pushbuttons for Netflix and Amazon Prime. Makes it easy to connect.
Just need to log into apps separately from logging into Roku.

This the Roku 4, has become my dominant streaming player . I have the new apple tv, not 4k and the new fire tv, not as much content so the Roku 4 is the go to player . Love it

Overall I love the new model. The only problem I have noticed is that on some apps, (Sling for one) it will hang up, some times when this happens I have to restart the app or the roku will shut down and re-boot.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am having a few issues
My ROKU 4 was purchased this past week, along with it I bought a new 50 inch 4k LED television. setup was super easy and I was streaming movies very quickly...Later, that night, while using the Roku 4 the menu was getting stuck in a rolling scroll mode in the channel menu line ups, and I had to unplug the unit and plug it back in because it froze up on me and kept rolling the channel line ups, and then the fan kicked on (very loud), and the box was feeling very warm to the touch. I now have it unplugged until I can understand more about why it is doing that.

Love it, but...

I love my Roku 4.has many channels, features and saves me (somewhat) on my cable bill.
BUT... it goes out ever few minutes. The picture gets pixelated, it stops, buffers, and even crashes. I was watching a live concert the other night on HBO and it crashed at an important part. Then the box restarted. I have an ample cable internet connection, but it continues to do this. I may just take a better look at my options, take it back, and get my cable back. Gonna keep it for another week or so and see. (Also there's no OFF button. It just continues to stay on.)

Roku 4 is so far average

We just bought Roku 4. Did all the research, compared different devices and settled on the latest Roku 4 since it offered the most channels and we have the old Roku. Well, we give it 3 stars compared to our old Roku that works perfectly after so many years. The new Roku 4 was easy to install but it takes too long to get to the Home screen. The remote is constantly disconnects and needs to be synced with Roku. Roku 4 sometimes freezes. It looks like a new technology that is subject to "infant mortality". We almost brought it back but decided to wait few weeks to see if it gets better.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
