Great Device

This is my 3rd Roku and i have come to totally rely on it vs the apps on my smart TV. Earbud listening through the remote is great. I have Dish 4K equipment and they promise 4K for their native Netflix app, but it's not available yet. Meanwhile, my Roku 4 is happily delivering unbelievable 4K.
My only issue was placing the Roku too close to the bottom of my TV where there was some kind of interference. All functions on the remote were hit or miss. No problems since I moved it.
I also found I needed to use an ethernet connection. WiFi worked, but mine just wasn't healthy enough. 4K content just took too long to load.

I came back to this section of the review to remark about available content. HD offerings are what has kept me with Roku vs any of the others. Now, 4K content is the best of any of them! Giving that 4 stars out of 5 was not due to Roku, but because Hulu and other apps are not 4K yet.

Roku 4 - 4K

I bought this unit since we just purchased a new 4K UHD Television the website said over 300,000 free movies and programs. I was disappointed in the number of free movies and programs. There are very few 4K streaming options for reasonable pricing (other than buying a movie outright), unless you sign up for their partner sites. I thought ROKU would offer some since this is a 4K Unit. It was very easy to setup and streaming is good. I'm still not sure I'm keeping it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We just bought the Roku to stream cable because we were unable to connect our cable box. So far its been great. Last night we did have to unplug and plug it back in because the roku kept on freezing but that only took one second and we were up and running again. Set-up was really easy.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I asked a very computer savvy friend to install my new ROKU. It took 3 hours and we are still having an occasional "blank screen"issue. It's not clear if it's the ROKU or the TV port. The company I bought it from wasn't very helpful. I'm very pleased when it is up and running. I'm trying to get used to the operations and
remote. Stopped a movie mid-section and can't find it again sifting through so many choices. It has very good picture and audio.

Love it! The picture quality on a regular HDTV is amazing! I see colors and definition that was never there before!! It loads super fast! You click on Netflix and instead of 3 minutes load time it's practically instant. I of course love the headphone feature, it's great when my kids are asleep, no noise to wake them up. I wish there were directions with the box on how to use the voice features. So I haven't used that yet. But the picture quality alone is fabulous. I want to buy another one for my other HDTV.

Roku 4 Delivers Highest Quality UHD and HD Content

Roku 4 is the most economical way for UDH 2160p and HD 1080p customers to evaluate quality of 4K UDH content. Undoubtedly, Roku 4 delivers the highest quality content available to UHDTVs at 2160p and HDTVs at 1080p.
As Roku 4 owner, I have discovered 4K UHD content is extremely limited and falls short of delivering flawless quality content expected by consumers. This is because manufacturers produce 2160p resolution products not flawless quality content. Flawless quality content is provided by 4K UHD content producers. And who knows if content producers will ever actually release Cinema quality content?
In my independent evaluation of Sharp Smart HDTV rendering of "Mastered in 4K" Bluray content and 4K UHD content provided by Vudu, Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, Crackle, UltraFlix, and several others. I experienced highest quality 1080p HDTV ever experienced. However, some sources provided no appreciable quality improvement. Technically, the Roku 4 cannot provide 4K UHD 2160p resolution to 1080p HDTVs. However, Roku 4 can provide higher 4K UHD 2160p quality to 1080p HDTVs if higher quality source available. Roku 4 provides a means for HDTV owners to evaluate quality of source material before making costly investment for 4K UHD upgrade.
