Roku in my opinion is the best video streaming player out there. Easy to use. And is not proprietary to any streaming service. Which is a plus. Amazing device.

high quality, loud fans

this is my third roku device. the roku4 is a much larger unit, setup was as easy as all my other rokus, picture and audio seem even better than previously. only issue is the fans running in the device get pretty loud, it sounds like there is a refigerator running in the room between me and the tv unless i turn the tv up very loud.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have 2 Roku 4's on my Samsung 4K tv’s and they both freeze up or crash several times a day.

Love my Roku!!

I own the Roku 4, Roku 3 and Roku Stick.. My 6 year old son uses the stick in his room, and he has no problem going to Hulu or Netflix and finding the shows he loves. I just got the Roku 4, and I love it!! So fast, clear and crisp display, and so many channels! It would be nice if there was an option to subscribe to the channels that require a cable subscription for a fee instead of having to use the cable service login information.. That way we could do away with cable completely. Thanks Roku! I hope your products continue to get better in the future!

Fair but disappointing

I upgraded from a Roku 2 to a 4 because the older one had begun to reboot randomly and I assumed the hardware was going bad.
The Roku 4 has rebooted during playback once in the past few weeks since I got it. Also, the Netflix software has been changed, and it is a much poorer interface. I blame Netflix for that, mainly, since I assume they made certain requirements. However, the new Netflix software wastes most of the screen space on advertisements or a large graphic of whatever title is selected. There are only two relatively small rows of titles displayed at a time. Also, when selecting any title from the main screen, it begins to play automatically, even while the menu to play/resume/etc is still displayed. There is apparently no way to disable this.
On the bright side, the integrated search is very nice since I use both Amazon Prime and Netflix, it's much easier to see what titles may be available.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great features but apps need an update

I'm disappointed, I bought this today and to try the 4k features i start youtube and look for 4k videos and all videos that i open nobody stream in 4k because the youtube app don't recognize the 4k videos. I open many video from gopro (4k can be selected on pc) but on roky 4 the resolution don't go over 480p but other videos arrive at HD or FULLHD resolution but nothing in 4k. PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM or ask google to fix it because is the same problem that i have with youtube app on my samsung 4k smart tv that wont recognize 4k video. Thanks god amazon works with all resolution. I see trailers from MGO and honestly the quality is poor, i don't know if is just the trailer or the movies too but if i see 4k movie and i see the trailer in 360p or 480p, honestly i wont buy or rent any movie from that app because looks like don't work. However i love this device but seriously pretend updates from the app's developers

I own two Roku 2's and love them! I wasn't impressed enough with Roku 3 to upgrade, but I found the Roku 2 slow on my 50" TV. My kids and I have different Netflix profiles, and the Roku 2's Netflix App doesn't let me choose. However the Roku 4 is fast, the picture quality is worthy of the large screen, and I can choose my own Netflix profile. I also like that the remote control doesn't have to be pointed at the box and like the headphone option too. You get the most for your investment in your TV and online content with the Roku 4.

We started with one Roku 2 when they came out, two weeks later had three Roku 2's. A few months ago bought the Roku 3 and just recently purchased 2 of the Roku 4's. If you ever want to have a great product that makes your life simple, then this is the one to get. Its super fast and just so convenient and easy to use. We also have our own private server and with the Roku media player we can connect easily via Wi-Fi and stream movies we have added to our digital collections. To many features to mention, You wont be disappointed. I have also given away two roku's to my sister and mom and they love it. Great gift idea for yourself or friends and family.
