I have two generation 3 roku's. I purchased the generation 4 for the 4K tv that I own. It has great features,however I'm still having a tough time connecting the 4K with my audio system, so right now I'm not using that feature.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A friend set up the ROKU. Susan far, system primarily used to watch Amazon Prime free movies. Can take system back and forth to work and vacation house.

Rocky Start but It Is A Good Player

I was happy with the purchase of the Roku2 for my son, and I was impressed with the quality, UI, and selection available. I decided to future proof some and went ahead and purchased model 4 even though I have no need of 4K. In my initial reviews, I did see some trouble with the Roku4 regarding hardware and cooling, so I decided to purchase the newest model since it has been several months past initial release.
I went to a local electronics vendor vs purchasing online and I started to hook up my new player. Well, after some trouble shooting on my end and a call to Roku support, the unit was DOA. My impression with how hot the model was just in its non-boot state, and batteries with an expiration date of last year this must have been one of the earliest models. So, I took the unit back to the store and exchanged it for a new one.
I am happy to report that after a few months, this unit is still operating well. I encountered no startup issues, everything worked, and the unit gets slightly warm in operation but not almost scalding hot. I can understand how dead units happen with tech, but it does create a pretty negative first impression. I was lucky I have had great luck with my son's Roku2 otherwise I might not have given the brand a second chance.
These are good players and are well made as long as you get a working model and probably do not purchase one right out of the gate. Tech support was friendly and helpful, so I would recommend giving them a shot if you want a good player.

Vast improvement over my Roku 2! The Roku 4 runs much faster; the remote is excellent, especially with the quality earbuds provided. I'm glad I bought the Roku 4!

I really love this Roku 4. It is totally worth the price. There are so many choices for tv shows and movies. I can now stream all my shows on my tv rather than just watch on my small computer screen. It's very easy to set up. My next purchase will be a ROKU Tv. Can't wait! The only thing I wish they would change Is to put an off button on the remote and to allow users to assign their own channel to the preset buttons that are on it.
