Roku is the best alternative to cable

We have a Roku unit for each t.v. Roku offers many shows, channels, and movies. I stopped cable a few years ago and switched to Roku. I am very happy with my choice. Roku 4 works great. It is fast, doesn't hesitate, and has a lot of shows to offer. They are always adding new shows.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good to watch tv without the stations fading out

Roku let's you watch a lot of movies for free that have commercials , but the down side is you have to subscribe to watch any local channels. You can still watch local channels if you have a good long range digital antenna as the weather is ok, but that still varies.

i had a roku 3 for 3 yrs an it still works good but the roku 4 its much faster an its 4k ready i would recommend this to anyone its the best one out there so far i run everything thur my onkyo 7.2 surround sound

Convenient

very happy all around with the Roku 4...it is my first Roku device. I like the headphones option alot. very convenient to have all streaming services in one place. main reason for the purchase was to be able to watch Sling.TV on my main LED TV.

I have 3 issues with the Roku (I have an AppleTV, Nexus Player, Fire TV and had a Roku 2 XS).
1) The ad on the right side of the screen is annoying. I would prefer no ads like on the non-Roku players. You could two more columns of channels in that space like the AppleTV for example. I get you have to monetize, but this is one of two reasons I do not have cable.

2) The Hulu app has an issue where it will play for 5 minutes and then retrieve for 5 minutes. I am unsure if this is a Roku or Hulu issue, but it does not matter. My other players do not have this issue, so it reflects directly on Roku.
3) There is a lot of repeated content on the channels. Shows that have passed into the public domain and the low cost shows are over represented in the various channels.
The positives:
The Windows 10 supported player. You can screen cast from Windows 10 if you enable the beta feature on the Roku. (All the other major eco-systems have had this support native for awhile now. With in the Microsoft realm, it has been spotty at best. I am glad to see that this is stable and native. Yes, I have a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter, yes Miracast, yes WiDi. )
Dearth of Channels out the wazoo. This is both a positive and negative. Everyone's needs are different, but if I have Plex, HBO, Netflix, and Hulu I am happy. Amazon is just a bonus for me.

I bought Roku Streaming stick because a buddy told me how good it was it was mainly for UFC PPV events. Well 2 weeks later I got the Roku 3 and they are all great. I love how easy it is to take the Roku streaming stick with me. I go to my friends house and we watch UFC TV and they are amazed and the picture quality.
Also I you can watch USTV now free for local channels and if you out of the USA you can watch all your Basic Cable channels and even set up the DVR . Very great device for anyone whom is serving in the military over seas.
