Good, a few bumps

The 4K support is great to have. Had many issues getting the Dolby sound to work, otherwise the setup was pretty good. It was going HDMI to a 4K TV that support all Dolby versions and ARC. However, it would only come back out the ARC as PCM 2.0. Finally was able to use the Optical to my AVR and had to set the Audio to Dolby+ in the Roku to finally get proper sound. One thing that tripped me on the audio was having to turn ARC off on the AVR for the optical to work. Recent Vudu update for 4K is exciting, except video is darkened and not much better than 1080P (I bought San Andreas to see how it was). Having all the content available is really great. That I like a lot.

Upgrade from a Roku3

All is as expected from a great product. One issue is troubling me due to my poor hearing. Using supplied earbuds I must turn volume up to max (100) in order to barely hear. Roku3 ran at 40-45 to get all volume needed. Went to a set of earphones and had the same low volume issue. Still happy with unit.

Great except for voice search

This unit delivers all that it promises - except for the voice search. We also have the Amazon, which has exemplary voice search. This unit fails to recognize simple phrase, and no matter how often you repeat the phrase, changing and elongating, over articulating - it still fails to recognize you. This never happens with the Amazon unit.

I got Roku 4 as a gift and I love it. I like how easy it is to use and switching back and forth between the different apps I have subscribed to.

I already own a Roku3, and NETGEAR Neo TV, and we purchased a new 65" Samsung 4K SUHD JS9500 Series Curved Smart TV a few weeks ago, as a second TV.
Even though it has Netflix on it, I wanted more options (Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO,...).
I hooked up the Roku 3 to the new TV, and the NetGear Net TV separately and they were a downgrade to the picture, and was considering the Apple TV (Gen4)
I read various reviews (CNET, MacWorld,...) concerning the media players, and there was a comparison between the Roku 3 and the Roku 4, Roku 3 and Apple TV (Gen4). The comparison between the Roku players was honest, no punches held. Since the G4 Apple TV was very buggy, I did not want to take a chance on it. Since I have had good luck with the Roku 3 in the past, we purchased the Roku 4.
WOW !! Glad I did.
After registering the Roku 4, we had to reregister the various streaming services to the new Roku 4.

Setup was easy. Copying over the apps from my Roku 2 went perfect. Being able to use the 5G side of my wireless router is a nice plus.
