I owend a gen one chromecast. I purchased this on its good review from consumer Reports. It is a vast improvem. I am a Netflix (used mostly on a Kindle for reading and my kids to watch show) and Amazon Prime subscriber (for the shipping) so the Roku helped get more out of these subscriptions. If you want to cut the cord to overpriced CATV. Get an antenna and a Roku.

UNIT WORK FINE OVERALL.
FEW THING NEED TO MENTION...IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE TEMPERATURE CONTROL FOR THE FAN.
ALSO FEW TIMES UNIT FREEZES AND RESETS ITSELF...REASON IS UNKNOWN.
MORE 4K PROGRAMMING OR CHANNELS NEEDED

The resolution is so much better on my new 4K tv even though the brand of tv was a lower end one.

Apple TV replacement

We had an Apple TV for a long time, and they kept cutting their free content. First YouTube, then Apple Radio. They never supported Amazon streaming services. I bought the Roku 4, and it's WAY BETTER. Rich in content and features, and super easy to use. I'll never go back to Apple TV.

Perfect streaming media player!

Bought a couple months ago as my first streaming media player, so nothing to compare to but I love it regardless. Love the Netflix and Amazon buttons on the remote. Impressed with 4k movies and no issue with buffering at all. Definitely would buy again.
