Just read the title, and that all sum up what the latest roku4 is about. more money, Loud fan noise, so i guess i wasn't the only one. Size is big too.

What is the deal with the jet engine fan on this Roku 4? It's so loud! Have to return mine.

Fast and versatile but..

So far so good, great quality with fast load times. Works great on newer wifi systems. Can steam 4k wirelessly not sure other stream boxes can claim that this early in the game. Here is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. They have tons of apps but I feel they are purposely leaving some of them without support our updates with the agenda of pushing sponsors apps. Spotify is a good example, they won't allow an update and the version they give you is from the first quarter of 2014 so it runs buggy. And yes there are updates available, they just don't give you access in hopes to have you use there sponsored partner apps instead..To me that defeats the purpose of what makes the Roku great, the ability to have the most choice with up to date apps! If not it just starts to become another Apple tv, which is garbage. So take a hint Roku, and allow updates for your apps. It's about having choice, not you saying we have 100000 apps... but only update 8 of them.

The new features and hd is wonderful

I got this a week ago, only watched CBS and went back to my Roku 3. You tube videos are fantastic, however I can't get CBS to come in and quit showing 6 commericals and then going back to home page and doing commericals all over again. I will say tech support is trying.

My first ROKU 2 purchase was back in 2011 and to be quite frank here, I was quite the novice when it came to streaming video (at that time). But I began to gradually learn and the quality and variety of streaming offerings got better and better. Then two years ago I purchased the ROKU 3 player and it was an awesome little unit also.
Recently I signed up with NetFlix for their steaming HD video options and although I realized that my ROKU 3 model was just fine (I have a 60" Samsung Plasma TV), I took the initiative of getting the new ROKU 4 box. With each successive upgrade in boxes, I noticed substantial improvements in settings, content, and overall Image Quality. I'm watching 1080P HD videos from NetFlix on my Samsung - using the ROKU 4 - and I've got to say that the quality seems as good as watching Blu-Ray disk videos. So yes, I've now become a master with these streaming video units.
So right now I have the ROKU 2 attached to a smaller LCD screen in the kitchen, the ROKU 3 in the bedroom on a 32" LCD TV, and the newest ROKU 4 on my 60" Plasma in the family room - ya gotta love it! I have really come to both respect and enjoy the quality of the ROKU offerings. Highly recommended!

Altogether I must have bought about 10 Rokus (both models 2 and 3). using as a gift and also using at home (3 of them). Heard good comments about the 4 Model so decided to try it. What a fiasco!
- Optical output does not work correctly
- Consistantly locked up
- Will not come on when selected, had to unplugged, then plugged it repetivately to make it respond
- Takes up too much room and runs extremely hot (even after turning the fan-option to high!)
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I waited to buy the Roku 4 because of bad reviews talking about fan noise. Finally I replaced my model 3 with the 4 and am very pleased with the picture on my Sony 4K. Unit is silent, no fan noise, picture is extremely good. Always liked Roku products, still use a Roku2 on an old tube tv.
