Does not play DTS, unbelievable.

The prime reason I bought this was to replace an aging WDTV with something new and flashy. While the range of online services is impressive and the gimmicks on the remote are pretty cool, not being able to watch my own library of movies directly from the network to the TV is just inexcusable. MKV with DTS audio is THE STANDARD and this thing will not play DTS. You will need to convert hundreds of movies to a lossy audio, hook up a receiver that will decode DTS or play everything through a transcoder. Ugly hacks, each and every one, better off just hooking up an unused pc or laptop to the tv.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A great upgrade!

I have had the Roku 4 for about a week now & am loving it! So much faster than the older models! No issues with it yet. The only thing I am not fond of, is the size. It is much bigger then the others, so it needs more space. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars.

If I have any complaint about the Roku 4, it's the instructions that accompany the device. It's a sheet with a series of 6 or 8 cartoons that show you how to set it up. The picture went from 720 to 1080 instantly. I may now buy a new ultra HD TV just to get the new image. This item is very easy to set up and operate, but you can't use the Roku 3 remote. All in all, I love it.

This is my third Roku (upgrades) in the last 5 years, and I have to say, I like this one better than the previous versions I've had! Slim, compact design, incredibly easy to setup, and very fast performance! Hardwire/wireless connection, HDMI for video, and very stout/compact design!
I would recommend this to a friend!

No display after a few minutes.

Setup went well, seemed like a nice interface and responsive. But after setting it up and trying a few apps, it wouldn't display anymore. Reset power and it would work for a couple minutes and stop displaying again. Tried new HDMI cable, same problem. Probably a great unit, if it worked

Nice Streaming Device

Good picture quality on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Quick transitions from app to app. Nice touch having headphone connection on the remote. I like the format better than the Amazon Fire TV which I have on another TV, might replace that with this if it ever dies. My only gripe is that the YouTube app freezes anytime I visit a YouTube Page. Even my cheap Blu Ray player could access YouTube better than this. My daughter uses the YouTube app quite a lot and this drives her nuts so she uses the Blu Ray for that. Other than that, best streaming device I've ever owned.

Easy to use

Bought this a week ago. It has over heated twice already and had to be unplugged and cooled off to restart. However over all great experience. Just hoping it doesn't give out with the over heating.
