I have used it for a while, the only thing is that it doesn't play AVI format.

Roku's exemption of h.264 support turned this otherwise excellent streamer into a return for me. Hence, my Roku 3 works just as well. Roku is still the KING of content.

When I set it up I had weak Internet. Returned it and got cable. Like the Roku 3 upstairs. The Roku 4 froze up on me and wouldn't work. Use Netflix and Amazon on smart tv and it works fine.

It works but remote is a bit clunky and ergonomic

It streams 4K video successfully and without buffering on my home cable connection. Previous players could not stream with quality despite fast connection.
2 issues come up: it keeps prompting me to confirm the video setting claiming it changes...it is connected to my receiver so of course the connection to the TV will be present sometimes and not others for the HDCP 2.2. Minor issue that one has to click OK button.
Major usability issue is with the remote: it is a bit slow to move through the menus using the directional keys and still feels clunky. My Samsung TV has a far better scroll and directional pad that makes it much more usable. One of the services that has a special shortcut key, which they probably paid for, is not of service or business now so the key does not function and can't be reassigned.
Overall, it works for streaming video but I still don't think it replaces my cable service in usability.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago, after seeing it at my son's home. I was looking for something cheaper than the cable company (since I don't watch a number of the shows I paid for), and was so happy to find this device. Love it!

The Roku 4 is AWESOME!! I have 4 Roku 3's and 1 Roku stick and I am cable FREE!! It has everything I need in one little box. One thing I would like to see improved is turning the box off. I know the Roku 3 does not power off . Can you put a power button on the next Roku remote to be able to turn off with the push of the button instead of having to go into the menus to turn off? Just a thought......

The Roku provides a great picture and has good content... But there are things that consumer might not be aware of. Your local news is prerecorded. You don't get fox live. Some of the content is stale. If you want certain channels that's extra and you must have a internet connection. It's cheaper than cable. Another draw back is the box has no real on/off switch and will consume bandwidth while connected. This to me is weird but if you have a good internet connection it won't matter.
