Great until you have to talk to support

I received my Roku 4 as a christmas present and could not have been happier. My previous Roku was on its way out and needed to be replaced. Things were great until a particular issue started happening. I would use the unit, turn off the tv for the night, and the next day there would be no signal from my Roku. I had to unplug the HDMI and plug it back in. My initial attempt to get help resulted in a "use a different HDMI cord". When that failed and I rattled off the long list of items I tried to fix the issue I was told they would replace the unit. Only problem with that is I would have to pay for shipping and would only get a new unit 3 to 5 days after they received my defective unit. When I asked as to why I could no get a prepaid shipping label I was told that because this was purchased from a store and not Roku itself. They would not budge on this. So I am now paying for a defective product that was originally a gift. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE ROKU!

I'm excited to see what ROKU has to offer! I'm tired of paying outrageous prices for cable and ready to take back my tv.

You can watch certain channels unless I'm paying for them with Time Warner. You have to into everything, with activation codes. The stuff you can actually watch, is almost 20 years old. I might as well get cable back. Outside of Sling TV, and it can only be streamed on one TV. I will eventually end up selling these boxes online.

Didn't perform as expected

Channels worked fine. The app icons were pixelated. Some were okay, others not. Did a factory reset and checked settings, same result. I have a Roku3 that doesn't have this issue.

Bought the ROKU 4 about two months ago hoping to finally be able to watch 4K content on my 4K tv that's a year old, but it was a no go. Seems that most older 4K TVs (a year old or older) only have HDCP 1.4 HDMI inputs. The ROKU 4 needs HDCP 2.2 inputs. So prepare to buy a new TV or find a Converter. It would have been nice if ROKU had included a work around or built in converter. Other than that SMALL problem it a good piece of equipment.

Love the Picture and available apps BUT!

As I said in the title, we love the picture and available apps. The ease of use is also good. The one complaint that I have is that it does not have an On / Off switch. You can go into the systems section and find an off control but that is really inconvenient. It does go into hibernation if you leave it on and shut off your TV but when you turn the TV on the next morning the TV won't recognize the signal. That is the same problem I had with my WD box. I have to disconnect the power cable and plug it back in (basically a reboot) in order for it to come back on. Again, same problem I had with my old WD box.

I have had my roku 4 for a couple of months and dont like it as much as my old roku which was lost to a power surge. The problem is the remote. It has buttons on it for applications I dont use or dont exist and they are not programmable. the worst thing is the button i used all the time - instant replay - is gone. I would rather have my old one.

Had to replace older model

Had to buy a replacement since Roku notified me that my 7 year classic model no longer would have updates and was being phased out. Since I used the optical audio jack on my classic model, I was forced to buy the Roku 4 model. I was not able to get the 20% discount offered on the models 2 & 3. I emailed Roku 3 times requesting the discount because of my circumstance but Roku never responded.
