We purchased the Roku 4 as part of "Cutting the Cord"...a no-brainer to setup, the variety of apps is great, especially having Sling.com, and the interface is wonderful. Also, being ready for 4k TV is really forward thinking...this is a great buy!!

Great concept, poor execution. I really wanted this to work so we can cut the cable bill. I got the device set up and was streaming programs, but had frequent freezes. I am not keeping the device because of that. Our internet connection is good and pc and tablets run well so I have to conclude that Roku is the issue.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love the Roku 4 however, I am concerned about how hot it runs all the time even when not in use. I am afraid it is doing to mark my Wood TV stand.

loud fan, no overscan adjustment

unfortunately, a step backwards from the roku 2, and a leap backwards from devices like the nvidia shield.
in june, i replaced my old roku 2, which my wife and i loved, with a shiny new nvidia shield box. the shield is a fantastic piece of hardware... but the software and content just isnt there yet. so, we decided to go back to roku, and get a roku 4.
the roku 4 is unquestionably a more *powerful* piece of hardware... but im not sure id say its a better set-top-box than the roku 2 or shield. gone is the motion control, which granted wasnt all that useful, but was a nice way to amuse guests' kids if we needed to plant them in from of the set for a while. also gone is the overscan adjustment from the roku 2, which is a BIG DEAL for people like me with DLP sets. I will eventually be replacing my DLP with a 4k set, but thats still a ways down the road (the 65"+ sets are still too pricey) and im not about to buy a 1080p LCD set in the mean time just so i can lose the overscan. i sincerely hope that roku adds the overscan adjustment back in a firmware update.
also. the fan. OMG the fan. it sounds like a jet turbine. i half-way expect to see if lift off and fly around the room. its so bad, im considering opening up the case, drilling out some holes for tubing, and replacing the fan with a water cooler.

Bought the Roku to try and cut the cable costs. Not off cable completely yet, has only been a week, but it's a great start. Happy with my purchase.

No big difference between Roku 2 or Roku 3

For me is been the same experience since Roku 1 XS. On this new version of Roku 4 HD nothing change, I was expected a better software but being with the same software is nothing change, nothing better, I hate that the software is really slow and old. The Roku company needs to head up with the future from the competition that always came with more new and faster softwares.

We selected roku because of the access to a diverse collection of app's and access to channels we have thru Comcast.
