Sleek looking, functional dishwasher

We bought this dishwasher to add to a kitchen that had no dishwasher previously. We wanted something that would match the design of our stainless steel appliance and also fit into our smaller kitchen, but the stainless steel version looked too shiny and almost white looking, so we went with the Slate instead. Glad we did because in our smaller kitchen and next to the other appliances, it looks great. It is also pretty resilient to fingerprints (we have a 1.5 year old who loves to touch it and the buttons).
Install was a little rough since we were putting it into a brand new space (needed to run electrical, water and drainage) so it took almost a half day to do, but the mechanics on the machine were very easy to hook into and get it into place under the cabinet. I blame the extra time spent on myself and father-in-law taking our time setting up the plumbing. If you have an existing dishwasher and are just changing it out with this unit, it should be much easier.
The dishwasher functions great. My wife loves the button lock function (for the little one wanting to push the buttons all the time) and the special bottle sprayers on the top rack. These 2 features were the main reason we went with the model and we are not disappointed! It cleans great, and is very quiet which is a good thing since our kitchen is right off the living room. The unit has been in for less than a week but we have run it a few times now with no complaints. We love the look, the multiple special functions (have not tried the upper vs. lower only washes yet, excited to do so), and the quiet running of this. I believe we will be very pleased with this unit over time. For the price, you cannot beat this unit.

Not a good cleaner.

Basically you have to wash all the dishes yourself and then stick them into the dishwasher for sanitizing purposes only. This dishwasher does not clean even though it has extremely hot water going to it. It is not as quiet as they claim either. We've tried different soaps and it still doesn't help.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
