Electric Board is shot
on August 26, 2022
Posted by: NelsonP
from Dallas, TX
I bought a new GE dishwasher 4 years ago - altogether it's a pretty good dishwasher. It dries a bit slow, but I can live with that. Now the electric board is shot. I've heard this is a repeated problem with these GE dishwashers. Very disappointed.

Hey there, and thanks for contacting us about this. While we’re glad the dishwasher previously worked well for you for years, we do hate to hear you’re now having an issue with the electric board, and also had some concerns with drying. This isn’t the performance we would expect from our model, and we regret the inconvenience you’ve had.
For your drying concern, you may want to make sure the water temperature is at least 120 degrees F and/or consider using a rinse agent. Additional troubleshooting tips are available starting on page 22 of the manual, with a section specifically about drying issues on page 23; if you’d like to view that, it’s available here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-55119-2.pdf&_ . For the issue you’re having with the electric board, we would recommend contacting our service department at 1-800-432-2737 or online at https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm ; a technician would be glad to examine the unit.
We hope this issue with your dishwasher is solved soon, so you can go back to enjoying good performance from it. If you have any other concerns or questions, we’re happy to offer assistance any time. -Sarah@GEA

GDF610PSJ6SS Not Coming On Completely Dead
on August 29, 2022
Posted by: Thankful68
from Chino, CA
I I purchased a home that is less than 3 years old a few months ago. The kitchen is equipped with all GE appliances. The dishwasher is model # GDF610PSJ6SS. It's just my husband and I, so we don't have many dishes to wash. The first week of moving int the house I turned on the dishwasher, but I didn't run it. The lights lit up, so I turned it back off and I sanitized it down since we had just moved into the place. I figured I when I really needed it I would use it. Being military we are gone a lot from home, so it was about a month before I decided I would give the dishwasher a complete test and run a few dishes in it. Well that didn't work out like I had planned. When I pressed the button to turn the dishwasher on nothing lit up. I looked under the cabinet to make sure it was plugged up and I was getting power and I was.. I then went to check my control panel to make sure the breaker hadn't tripped and it hadn't. I went back to the dishwasher and unplugged it and put the plug into a different outlet. I got a spark, so I knew I had power. I then plugged something else into the original outlet where the dishwasher was originally plugged into and it came on with no problem. I then started to do some research online regarding GE lights not coming on for model # GDF610PSJ6SS. The majority of the forums or videos I could find mentioned the main control board being bad. The price to replace the board would be almost like paying a small fee towards getting a new different brand dishwasher, which I'm mot likely going to do. Even after replacing the control board customers were still having the same issue months later. These appliances aren't made with high quality parts anymore. It seems as though many businesses are focused on the money and not producing quality parts anymore. A recall should be done on all GE dishwashers that are having this same problem and the customers should not be responsible for paying for the parts or labor to have the part replaced.

Piece of Crap
on September 4, 2022

I got this because it was the only matching model in the same material as my other appliances. Turns out it's a piece of crap. Super cheap parts, it takes waaaay too long for each cycle, and constantly smells of mold from the food washed off plates, that literally sits there in its pipes till it eventually gets washed out. But I'm telling you: the mold smell after you leave town for a long weekend or summer vacation SUCKS. And the only way to make that not happen is to leave your air-gap cover OFF. No wonder GE discontinued this piece of crapola!

Broken twice in 5 years
on September 20, 2022

This dishwasher is garbage. We bought it in 2017 and two years after we bought it the motherboard needed to be replaced. Now three years later, the dishwasher turns on, starts to fill for one minute, and then just stops the cycle. Now we are waiting for a repair serviceman to come out in 2 and a half weeks. Our previous dishwasher came with the house and we had no problems for 7 years, and it was a unit that was already 10+ years old. This one has broken twice in 5 years. Don't buy this appliance, it's garbage.

Failing at 4 years, service manual not helpful
on October 29, 2022
Posted by: jordanc8
from Ohio
I have been having issues with the controls sporadically turning on and occasionally becoming non-responsive. I followed the mini-manual troubleshooting and accordingly replaced the main control board, but that did not fix the problem. If it's going to fail, it would be nice if the manual was accurate so I wouldn't waste money on the wrong replacement parts.
