Won’t even last the warranty period.

This piece of garbage only lasted 7 years. The repairman informed me that GE warranties only cover the motor. In our case the basin underneath the agitator shattered and made the washer inoperable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Would not recommend

I really loved This washer for the first three years we had it! But then I started using a powdered detergent and the washer is no longer the same. There is a permanent mildew smell that I cannot get rid of no matter how many clean cycles I do with bleach or with the specialty cleaning solutions for washing machines. There seems to be very, very poor design on this specific machine… There is a ring at the top of the tank that sprays water onto your clothes. This ring does not fully empty after each load and whatever water is sitting inside that ring has to be growing mold or mildew and making all of our clothes stink. Sadly, I feel like there’s no way to get this upper ring cleaned out, so we are going to have to buy a whole new washer, which is incredibly frustrating!

Junk!! Won't last go but a Maytag!!

Worked ok however only lasted seven years before being unrepairable due to the drum disintegrating and having metal pieces everywhere.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We understand the importance of an appliance lasting for a long time. However, it is not possible to determine the product failure rate, lifespan, life expectancy, or life cycle of an appliance. There are multiple variables involved such as frequency of use, type of use, location of appliance, care, and maintenance.

Good Washing Machine

There are a lot of great features like infuse system for water conservation. It has 10 year warranty on motor. However, the machine is noisy compared to similar models from other brands.

Agitator no more

Incredible capacity, easy to use, highly efficient and would recommend if you are ready to lose the agitator and want a top load machine.

wrinkled... clothes come out wrinkled every time..

the clothes come out wrinkled every time. they get spun so much, with so little water that the clothes come out wrinkled ... so wrinkled that we have to iron forever...

very high tech but user friendly

i bought this washer a few weeks ago. it is replacing a very antiquated model i had for 14 yrs. i love how user friendly this washer is, but i am still getting used to how it works. i was so used to having the agitator beat up my clothes in the old washer, that it still baffles me this one can do a good job without it. i few things to point out, this machine does all of the work for you, so you don't need to do anything but load the washer, add detergent and pick the cycle. the machine dictates the amount of water it needs and the amount of time of the cycle. it seems efficient and so far has done a good job of cleaning my clothes. i have found clothes are a bit linty in certain cycles, so i have used the "extra rinse" option and that helped. all in all, it's worth giving it a shot if you are hesitant on buying this newer model. i do love that it is GE and made in America. the 3 star rating is solely based on the fact i don't have that much time with the machine yet to fully love it, but i am hopeful it will keep growing on me.

First Time Buyer for HE Top Load Washer

Like many others we have used the old style top load agitator washer for many, many years so the new GE HE Top Load Washer was a major change for us. We had read other reviews and saw that a lot of folks did not think that the new HE type washer did as good a job as the old type. But I can tell you that after doing several wash loads with our new GE HE Washer we are extremely satisfied with the results. A word of caution is that you must carefully read the operating instructions because it is not the same as the old style Washing machine. If you follow the instructions I believe that you will be very happy with the results. Now, as to durability of the new Washer, that remains to be seen. Our last old style washer ran great for about 17 years before it finally quit. If the new HE Washer will last that long before it needs to be replaced we will be extremely happy.
