Read the manual and everything will work great. Yes its different from the old style washers! I found after reading front to back that keeping it by the washer to refer to worked till I was comfortable with all the cycles. Very heavy items when wet should be washed in very small amounts. Only time I had a balance issue. Easy to fix. Cleans our clothes great and I love the deep fill button!

Family of 6 with teenagers, we do a TON of laundry. So far this machine has handled everything. Kids love that the clothes are much dryer coming out of washer and therefore dry much faster.

I really like this washer for most of my everyday loads. It cannot handle things like comforters, rugs bedspreads. It does handle sheets and towels.
