I had a GE front load washer that lasted almost 8 years. Not a fan of front loaders due to the mildew and smell no matter how much you wash it, so switched back to a top loader once this broke. I am so happy with it! My clothes seem so much cleaner and it washes them quickly and efficiently. It has cut down on drying time as well and has a great capactiy for sheets and towels (my last one was 3.5 and this is 4.6). Some of the reviews worried me, but I didn't want an insanely expensive machine with all these features I don't even need. This model fit what I wanted at a fair price It does make noise here and there, but nothing worse than the last one. I just shut my laundry room door anyway. I'm happy with this purchase so far!

Won't balance during spin cycle leaves clothes wet

This washer has had problems with the spin cycle soon after installation. The spin cycle spins like crazy, even though the washer is level and no matter how you distribute the load, it is always off balance. Now you can't even keep it level with no clothes in it. The tub design is so sensitive to any movement that I can see why it is always off balance. The spin cycle never completes itself, leaving the clothes wet. It also leaves many loads in a wad or a knot, ruining items trying to get them apart.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Washer!

I'm only giving this a 4 and not a 5 star rating because when you don't put your clothing in evenly, it tends to bang around in the barrel. Yes, there are sensors that sense this and refill the washer to disperse everything evenly, but it can get loud! Over all, I'm really happy with my purchase!
