Worst washer I've ever owned

This is the worst washer I've ever owned. It doesn't fill with enough water to even get all the clothes wet ! It's impossible to wash a comforter or even sheets. I have to constantly add more water, not by the machine, but by hand. There is little agitation so clothes don't get clean. Next week I'm calling for service on it because I can't believe this is how poorly it works, I'm hoping something is wrong with it and that this isn't by design.

Thanks so much for sharing your review. We're quite sorry to hear that the washer doesn't fill up with enough water. We can understand your concern. The Department of Energy (DOE) sets standards for washer water usage. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Most washers are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary.
It is not recommended to manually add more water to the washer. Some models have a Deep Fill option which adds additional water to the wash load, regardless of whether you used a manual or a load-sensing fill. Please let us know if you have any questions. Best wishes. Mike@GEA

If the lid is open, “Lid” will scroll across the display. If your lid is closed and this is still displaying, we recommend disconnecting power to your washer for 2-3 minutes to reset the controls.
If the problem persists, we recommend scheduling service with a certified GE Appliances technician that will be able to accurately diagnose and repair your appliance. Don’t buy

We have had this washer less than 2 years. We have already had to buy replacement parts 3 different times. The washer has just quit for the fourth time. We will not put anymore money into this washer. We will be buying a new one from a different manufacturer. This is very disappointing.

HORRIBLE

I’ve owned this for 3 years , the other day my daughter was in her playroom in the basement and I was in my living room above her and all I heard was a big boom and everything in my living room started shaking, I went downstairs to check it out my washing machine was 4 feet away from where it was stationed and the whole top blew off the drum was cracked the frame was bent the detergent tray was cracked into 1 million pieces inside the drum all I washed was a flat sheets and a mattress protector

Mixed feelings

This machine works fine. My biggest issue with it is that when I add liquid fabric softener at the beginning of a new load, it leaks and drains onto the clothes. I have removed the drawer that holds fabric softener and there isn't a hole. I have cleaned it. I have tried to adjust the way it sits. It still leaks. It has always done this, from the beginning of owning this machine. I don't know why. It's a pain. I don't want to hire an appliance repair person for such a small issue. However it makes me wonder what else will go wrong with this machine over time.

Mystery mildew stains

The washer periodically stains clothes towels and sheets with mildew. We can’t find the source in the tub. We use oxy cleaning packets often with no improvement. There is no support provided for this issue.
