I've had this dryer for several months, I love how quickly it dries, however, we have pets and does not collect the hair very well in the vent. It leaves it on the top near the door. I saw this review when researching, and hoped it was not true, but it is.

Watch Out for Poor Quality of Timer and Knobs!

I was a huge fan of GE Appliances over the years. Not any more. This specific model appears to be a replacement model for another electric GE dryer. The "timer" part and the knobs used to establish settings appear to be the same as my current model. The parts on GE electric dryers are poorly designed and not meant to last long. The stem on the timer is constructed of plastic and can break easily. The knob to turn the stem is made of plastic and breaks. The dryer model we have is only 2-1/2 years old and the cost of repairing it is more than half the cost of the dryer. The goal of cheapening the cost of the parts so customers are forced to decide whether to repair or replace the product in a short time frame has been achieved! I will never purchase another GE Appliance again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love my new GE dryer !!!

I purchased my GE dryer a little less than a month ago, after my dryer of 20 years decided to stop working. I spent weeks reading on-line reviews and visiting local appliance stores in search of the perfect dryer. I needed a dryer that could not only fit into a tight space but had to have the capability of handing large loads of laundry. But most importantly the dyer MUST have features that could accommodate the Rheumatoid Arthritis in my hands, this GE dyer fit all those requirements. My fingers don't bent so I LOVE that I can easily move the dryer setting dials with the palm of my hands without having to apply much pressure, the location of the door handle at the top of the door rather than the front is so refreshing especially on those days when my RA is bad. I am thrilled to have a light inside the dryer (really comes in handy on those day I need to grab just one thing out of the dryer, Yes I do leave dried loads in the dryer sometimes). I have used my dryer several times drying an array of items in various size loads and every load has come out completely dry. There is one thing about the dryer that I am not wooing over but it's strictly esthetic which is a small ripple located between the clips where the dial panel cover meets the top of the dryer shell, other than that esthetic flaw I LOVE this dryer and would without hesitation recommend this dryer to anyone!!!
