Purple wire issue (Known issue)
on December 2, 2025
Posted by: Homs1234
The dryer stop heating after 3 years. The issue is the common "Purple wire of death" that got burnt which is connected to the heating element (Google it, it is a common issue with these dryers). It is insane to me that they sell this product with this known and dangerous issue. Now I will buy a new dryer from a different brand since the repair kit they sell can have the same dangerous issue. I would recommend people to change the appliance brand from now on.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It’s a simple dryer with easy to use features. Can operate without a manual and it’s a solid choice in a world full of more and more complex options. Sometimes simple and easy is the best route to go! This is that dryer!
I would recommend this to a friend!

We'd like to assist with the your dryer's lint build-up. It's extremely important to make sure you're using the proper venting material and making sure the vent ductwork is the proper length. The vent hose needs to be 4 inches in diameter and should be solid metal or aluminum, not plastic. You can find information on the proper length on pg. 13 here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--7Aedw4kl--/afpz3kbrymvlpduxcctk.pdf. You can find additional troubleshooting to assist with the lint build up here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17442.

Great until it stopped heating.

I had only had it 3 years and it stopped heating. They don't make things like they used to. When it works it works well, but it doesn't work. One day it was great, next day nothing.
