lint catcher not large enough as lint spills over into the dryer

Great features and options

After having our previous dryer serviced twice, we shopped around and decided upon the GE dryer. It was great value and the performance is wonderful. I especially like all the options offered in relation to temperature, fabric, extra tumble, etc.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Lint filter doesn't trap well

My WONDERFUL 12-yr-old GE Profile dryer finally died, so I decided to replace it with a cheaper GE model to save money...my theory being, it just needs to dry clothes...dryers should all be fairly comparable in their ability to spin clothes in hot air, so why spend extra money that I don't have on a fancier machine. Well, my theory was wrong.
I have two complaints with this new dryer:
1. The lint trap catches very little lint. The lint escapes out my home's exterior vent and gets caught in the vent cover (cage style that keeps birds out). I have to get up on a ladder at least every 2 weeks to clean the thick matting of lint out of my exterior vent cover...lint that shouldn't even be there because it SHOULD be caught in the dryer's lint trap. With my GE Profile dryer, I only had to clean the exterior vent cover once every 6-9 months...its lint trap design was excellent.
2. The Cottons temp, which is the hottest temp, is not as hot as the GE Profile dryer was. I have to run my dryer longer to get the same sized load dry...using more electricity than I used to.

SUMMARY: I had very good experience with my old GE Profile dryer, so I'm not bashing the brand. But I would NEVER buy nor recommend anyone else to buy this GTD42EASJWW model GE dryer.

Everything is fine but I do wish the door dropped down instead of opening out. Also the lint trap is kinda small but overall it works perfectly.

The Dryer is great except it leaves my clothes smelling like a dog is in my house. I do not have any pets & keep my laundry room extremely clean. I have no idea what the issue is.

I purchased this particular model because of being GE and its features . Love you can clean with filter inside the door vs on top dragging a long screen out where you leave most of your dirt.
I would recommend this to a friend!
