Dryer Works

The dryer works. However the timer knob is very hard to turn. I tried calling customer care for help and waited for 55 minutes. Still didn't get an answer if the knob is supposed to be really hard to turn or is it a defect.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're really sorry to hear about the difficulty you are having with the knob so far, that is definitely a bothersome situation. We can understand the frustration caused. Also, apologies about the difficulty getting in touch over the phone.
The knob for this model shouldn't be giving too much trouble when turning, it is possible it might need to be reattached or checked. Nice appliance, but it stopped working 11/5/23.

This is a great dryer- But, I was able to use it one time, then it just stopped working. I looked through the GE Manual for ideas as to why the dryer stopped working & I followed through checking specific areas that could be the reason the dryer stopped working, & those suggestions from the manual didn't help with the problems.

Not reliable/fire hazard

The dryer is not reliable. Two months from the purchase date a purple wire coming from the main harness to the heating element burnt at the connection. This was repaired and happened two more times. At this point we have purchased a new heating element assembly and a new electrical harness. I am very disappointed with this issue.

Heating element blew

Dryer element went after a year and a half. Don't buy this piece of garbage. Almost cheaper to get a new dryer.

Lint screen not good

Lint screen barely catches any lint. Most of the lint goes around the screen and piles up in the duct blocking the air flow out of the dryer. Very difficult to remove the piled up lint even with a long brush made for this purpose. Have to do this every couple of weeks

Melted Heater Wire

I purchased a new GE dryer (model GTD42EASJ2WW) in March 2023. After less than two years of service, the dryer did not heat due to a burnt and melted purple heater wire. The connector and wire melted off of the tab on the heater coil. GE should be ashamed of this poor quality.
