Our existing GE dryer had lasted almost 20 years and was still going strong, but we needed to replace our washer so decided to do both. So far, after drying about 5 loads, we are happy with our purchase. Hoping for another 20 years on this model.

Third Generation GE Consumer

When I was a child in the 1960's my grandmother had a separate building she referred to as the "wash house" where she had a GE agitator washer she had bought in the middle of the last century, not sure what year. It was still working efficiently in 1969. It was round, had a hard plastic lid, two levers on the front down below and a wringer on the rear on top sticking up at the rear of the drum. Outside the wash house were these huge clotheslines where she would hang things to dry. I remember the smell and the cleanliness of those clothes, especially the sheets. Her daughter, my mother, also was a GE person...both washer and drier when I was growing up in another town some 1000 miles from there.. My mother bought them in 1966 and they lasted until 2011 when she moved to my sister's house. When I got married for the second time in my fifties, my wife and I both talked about how we loved GE products so when it came time (9 years into our marriage (2019) to get rid of a washer and drier of another brand she had since 2008 (that did not last and had a problem with mold in the front loading washer and a belt that kept breaking on the dryer)....she wanted a top loader with an agitator......we got tired of things breaking down and finally decided to get efficient...We looked around,discussed things and went with GE due to both of our families having used them in the past. As it turned out the agitator worked similarly to the one my grandmother had but in a more modern way of course (70 or 80 years made a lot of progress) and the ability to set the load size saved water. The efficiency of being able to dial in all the different types of clothes as presets made things very convenient, especially when on the run. At first I thought there would be a problem with not being able to use oxidizing detergents but I was dead wrong. The agitator is more than efficient and with an HE detergent gets out the most stubborn of stains. There are so many options made for just about any laundry need. Some things are just a legacy. Hey, this would make a good commercial! We truly are a third generation GE consumer.

Gets the job done!!

Bought this dryer about a month ago and have been very happy with it. Our old dryer took forever to finish and many times had to run it longer to get clothes totally dry. Not so, with our new GE. I really like the buzzer (I can hear it in any room) it has to let me know the cycle is about to end so I can get clothes out before they wrinkle. Clothes come out dry and wrinkle free the first time.
