Well built and performing like a champ

I installed this new dryer myself two weeks ago and have used it several times. This GE dryer with its new style control panel looks good next to my current washer which is a low water usage front-loader type. Installation included leveling and attaching the exhaust hose. The 240V pigtail from the previous dryer was in excellent shape so I wiped it clean and used it on the new GE. I reversed the door. The installation instruction were fine and everything went well with one minor exception.
The minor problem concerned the plastic plugs used as dummy screws to fill the unused door hinge screw holes. I followed the instructions and used a tape covered putty knife to remove them. Unfortunately, only one of the four plugs survived removal intact. The other three came apart upon removal. Closer inspection of the failed plugs revealed that the shaft section of the plugs were hollow plastic and not solid plastic. There was no way that these plugs could have survived removal for re-use on the opposite side of the door. As a result I went to the hardware store and purchased four new screws to fit the unused holes. I suggest GE use four more screws instead of these plugs.
This GE dryer works very well and I'm happy with it. I like the aluminized steel drum and interior light. The lint screen has no felt seals to wear out or come loose. The controls and 7.2 cu. ft. capacity allow me to dry just about anything I want. Variable buzzer control is a plus as is the tumble feature. Three heat settings and cold air. Fit and finish are all first rate. All controls have a nice quality feel. I don't need more from a dryer than this.
One note about the main control knob. The words "permanent press" do not appear. Don't worry about that. The "casuals" settings are actually the permanent press settings.

No frills machine that appears to be built as well as the 20 year old Whirlpool that it replaced and it makes a great match to the GE 4.2 cubic foot top loading washer. It's a good value without a lot of unnecessary bells and whistles to fail.
