Just got the dryer installed and have used it to dry 2 loads so far. So far so good. Like the fact the handle to open the door is at the top and not the side.
I would recommend this to a friend!

REPAIR NIGHTMARE

Sure it dries the clothes, but in 3 years it needed repaired twice. First the safety button on the inside of the door quit working as soon as our warranty expired. I was able to order a switch, but it was very hard to access and replace. Now, the belt snapped so the drum does not rotate...apparently there is a safety feature which shuts the off the heat so nothing will run at all. Since the manuals do NOT give any instructions on replacing the belt ...let alone trying to figure out how to take the correct panels apart to access the belt (do I take off the back, the front, the sides, etc. ???). VERY unhappy with the design and lack of written support. I have repaired washers and dryers in the past (not GE) and never had this level of frustration. Now if I can't manage to get everything put back together properly, and IF the dryer works properly, I will have to either pay for repairs or it may be easier to purchase a different brand. This was purchased along with the matching GE clothes washer which had to be exchanged due to a mixing valve problem.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have about 30 days usage on this new dryer and find it works very well. Have tried many of the settings and found optimum dry with medium heat works best for most fabrics. Control knobs are easy to use. Buzzer can be adjusted for volume or turned off. Lint trap is easy to clean. Quiet. Door takes a little effort to force it closed. Wish the light inside was a little brighter, my only complaint. I found this electric dryer a good value.

My old dryer was quite old and this newer model has good improvements. I like the selections for 'not so dry' and extra fluff time.

Takes too long to dry

Bought this GE dryer for my mom last November (after her Maytag died). I never paid attention to moms complaint her new GE dryer takes about 80 minutes to dry one load of clothes. Well my GE dryer (purchased 4 years ago) stopped working a few days ago, so I went to moms today to use her dryer (until I can get my dryer repaired). OMG mom was right. It took almost 90 minutes to dry one medium size load of clothes. Thank God her dryer is still within the one year warranty. Hopefully the warranty department will not give me any hassle because I just scheduled a GE appliance repairman to come fix her dryer next week.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
