Timer doesn't work

Timer doesn't work; it goes on forever.
Right out of the box, it didn't work, so I have to my cooking timer to dry my clothes or else cook to a crisp.

I don't know much about dryers. Seems to work just fine. One thing is that I was concerned with was that there is no mention anywhere in the operating instructions as to which direction you can turn the Time Dry selection knob (clockwise or counterclockwise). I didn't know if you could damage anything by turning it in the wrong direction. This should be clarified in the instructions!
