LOUD!

Dryer works fine but man is it LOUD. I had to have it serviced the week I had it because it made an even more loud whining sound. Like hear it outside the house loud. Turns out is was assembled incorrectly at the factory and the gas tube was not bolted down.
The whining is gone but why on earth is this dryer so loud? It works fine, dries, traps lint but if you are putting this in a bedroom I would think twice.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi - Thank you for taking the time to post a review on your new dryer. We hate to hear how unhappy you are with the operational noises the dryer is making. It would be normal for a dryer to have a start-up squeak that goes away a few seconds after the cycle has started and to hear the dryer drum as it turns.
Gas dryers like yours, may produce a buzzing when the solenoid valve opens. The valve clicks at the start of the heat cycle, start of ignition and when the burner turns off. The flame makes a low roaring sound. We recommend ensuring the dryer is level, on a secure solid floor and nothing is leaning against the dryer. If your dryer is making sounds not previously mentioned we would encourage you to call service back out to check the unit again. You may call 1-800-432-2737 to do so. Doesn’t dry

It takes almost 2 hours to dry 5 towels. I’ve had the dryer serviced twice and the servicemen claim the dryer is operating as expected.

Don’t waste your money

We gave GE another shot. We had bought the electric dryer and it didn’t last more than 2 months before it completely stopped heating up. We tried for the gas dryer in same model Md it does not heat up bery well. It took me almost 3 hours to dry a large load. It just doesn’t heat up very much. Don’t waste your money

There are several reasons your items may be taking so long to dry, such as improper or obstructed ducting, combining loads, or a full lint filter. Not as sturdy as I wished it to be..

I only use gas dryers..electric costs are way too high, This GE is a nice dryer, but doesn't get the gentle cycle dry for my knits and items that need this cycle. The door to open it is kind of flimsy. The settings are easily read - but the filter is cheap. It does not have the same strength and cap[acity as a filter that would go from the top deep into the bowels of the dryer. Therefore, more lint area was needed for this style's filter. Also, it is made of plastic - not great - prefer a metal filter screen. The dryer itself is very lightweight. I prefer the older ones b/c they are sturdier and are made stronger for actual longevity. I needed a new one ASAP - bought it online - had to have it installed ASAP. I have a GE washer that is terrific - older - and still gets the clothes a great washing. The newer models are cutting corners - stop using so much plastic - use more metal - all in all - basically - two stars.

I purchased gas dryer and it works dependably, as expected with minimal effort. I’m grateful to see current model latching system is made of metal vs plastic. We replaced dryer simply due to plastic latching unserviceable. Sad but true. We kept door shut using tape , again, sad but true but it worked until months later door hinge broke rendering tape useless. Time 4 new dryer! Hope this helps…..
