GE Gas dryer

So far the dryer seems to be running fine. But one thing I don't care for is the lint filter. My last (GE) dryer had a pretty good size lint filter and when I removed the screen, I could get my hand or a cleaning cloth into the space beneath. This lint filter, first of all, doesn't collect nearly as much lint as the old one did, and secondly, the slot where the screen is is so narrow I can't fit anything in there to clean. And I'm guessing there's a lot of lint getting by the screen since there isn't much on the screen.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Simple, Straightforward and GREAT!

Bought this dryer with our matching GE Washer as a set in 2016 and it's still running GREAT as of March 26, 2021. This dryer has just enough selectable options to be totally useful without all the high-tech add-ons that never get used. This dryer has NO water connection for steaming, but this is actually a PLUS for two reasons. 1.) No water line to maintain and leak, and 2.) The "Dewrinkle" setting does an excellent job without steam. It is important to keep the lint filter clean, including checking it during the dry cycle with heavy "linty" loads. That was the reason for our single service call... a large towel load running on the highest temperature setting. We tripped an internal thermal protection switch because as the lint filter built up with pretty heavy towel lint, the airflow through that filter was reduced to a point where the high air temp and reduced cooling tripped the thermal protection. If we had cleaned the filter Mid-Cycle, this would not have occurred, and in fact, never has again after 4 years of post-repair use.
