no air play over wifi

SoundTouch SA-5 amplifiers work great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am currently running seven of these amps and plan on adding at least two more. I built my house in 2002 and prewired for whole house audio and had keypads mounted in wall in each room, as years went by and WiFi became more main strewam, I was able to integrate these amplifiers and remove my keypads. The key pads never worked great and I like being able to control all my speakers from my iPhone. The SoundTouch app needs major improvements, including simple UI improvements, Bose should really spend the money to consult/hire a company to build their app. The app is mostly Black/White or Grey scale, its hard to even tell if the power icon is selected (on/off). There has been some stability improvements and the way you add/group speakers is good.

I am having issues with the App after Upgrade

Using the app, after it finds the amp and sets it up everything seems fine, it gets connected to the network, then It just doesn't connect and I can't use it, this happen 8/10/2019 after I had to upgrade the software on both, amp and app on the phone and computer.

Multiple inputs and Bluetooth

My first Bose Stereo was 1977. I have been upgrading my whole house Bose system to the SoundTouch this year. My complaint was that I couldn't connect my TV and it needed more sources for the app. Bose listened on the first two and is working on the latter. One great thing is they can update the software automatically. I bought two SA-5's and will finish the house soon.

Needs internet to function, not for remote areas

I had to replace the Bose system on my boat after a lightning strike. Obviously on boats you usually get into areas without internet. This SA-5 powers my external speakers from the Soundtouch 650 that's used for the saloon. The SA-5 can only be paired with the 650 if there's wifi with internet. Just wifi alone won't do it. Also the the system will only play music from the Soundtouch app, and that needs internet.
I tried playing downloaded Spotify direct from my Samsung S8 phone to the SA-5 and the 650 (the phone has dual bluetooth) but the music would get out of sync.
Bose should just allow this SA-5 amplifier to be paired directly to the 650 without having to go through Soundtouch or an app. Best if the external SA-5 volume could just be controlled directly by the 650. And then just stream music from my phone to the 650 and amplified to the outside by the SA-5. So simple.

Every time I try to use it it, the amp is not found. I have to reset it and reload the software repeatably. It is to the point I do not want to even turn it on......

Flawless integration

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love the SA-5. Installation was a breeze. I have it connected to a 12 pair speaker selector as I have speakers in every room in the first floor of my home. I had originally thought the speakers were bad, however it turned out it was the old amp that came with the house.
I also have a 700 Sound bar and linking them together is as easy as a touch of a button on the app. The subwoofer in the 700 providers the bass lacking from the in-ceiling speakers.
Amazon Alexa integration works flawlessly as well as Bluetooth and the streaming services. I Couldn't be happier with this purchase. I am planning on adding another SA-5 with outdoor speakers in and around my pool house just because linking the systems together works so well.
Great job Bose! Your engineers deserve a handshake!
