great receiver but...
on May 16, 2015

This worked great for what I needed but the receiver goes back to TV mode when I turn it back on. Kinda annoying that I have to get up and find the receiver remote and switch it back to Sat/cable mode every time.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hi Markuis, Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will forward your information to the proper department. Thank you for your feedback and for choosing Sony.
I bought this on the recommendation of a sales person because they ddn't have the one I wanted in stock. When I opened the box, I found there was only 1 piece of paper with only minuscule directions. To get detailed instructions, you have to go online and print them out and then they still aren't very clear. Once I got it setup, I had to get my son-in-law the tech engineer to do it for me, it was still difficult to understand the controls. I would not have bought this unit if the other, another brand with more bells and whistles and more detailed instructions had been available. In fact, if I still had the box, I would probably pull it all down and return it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Lack of Signal

We live about 20 miles from town and I barely get a handful of channels.

Hi Di8ck, Please try move your antenna. If you're still not getting any signal, try to revert the receiver to the factory default settings.
1. Turn off the receiver. 2. Hold down (on/standby) on the receiver for 5 seconds. [CLEARING] appears on the display panel for a while, then changes to [CLEARED *]
Check again if you're getting any signal. Thanks.

great bargain for the performance

Easy to set up. My only criticism is that the mute button on the remote is a bit too sensitive.
Operationally, it is a good unit Hooking up the speaker wires, it you do not have plug on them is a real pain. Trying to locate the serial number on the box is a guess.
