I bought this to replace an old, old Pioneer stereo receiver. I really don't have a sophisticated home theater system. This product is working well for me. Three comments/suggestions: (1.) I wish I could rename the various inputs instead of being stuck with what Sony has named them. (2.) I wish it had a mic level input fora turntable (I had to purchase a separate pre-amp). And, (3.) I wish it had a switched 120V output so that I could have the power for other devices controlled by this device. But overall, it works well and the sound quality is very good.
We were looking for a simple receiver with enough HDMI inputs for our other electronics (Blu-Ray, cable box, etc). We found this receiver and are very happy with it. It is extremely easy to set up and the sound is much better than our old receiver. The only quirk is the pass-through feature. If we watch something on the Blu-Ray without the receiver on, when we turn off the Blu-Ray we get no TV reception until we turn the receiver on, set the input to cable box and turn the receiver off. Then everything works just fine. Its annoying but that is the only thing I wish Sony would correct on this receiver. Otherwise its all good!

Hello DonWA! Thank you for your feedback, we will forward this information to the proper department for further review. We would like to suggest to visit also the following link since they provide further information on how the pass through feature works on your receiver:
Powerful and realistic sound, matched up with my old Infinity 201 speakers, TV and newer Sony carousel CD player. However, not sure how to connect my old turn table.

Hello SunnyB!, Thank you for your feedback, you can connect your turntable to this unit using the audio analog in ports available , if your turntable has a switch to select either LINE or PHONO make sure that is selecting the LINE position. If your unit doesn't have a switch it will be necessary to connect your turntable into an amplifier first and then connect the audio out from that unit into this A/V receiver.

I had an older Sony receiver that worked fabulous for a decade or more. With all my components using HDMI I needed to upgrade. This is perfect for all of my devices & the quality & sound are exactly what I expect from Sony.
So far I've only heard my CD player using the amp. Having trouble with sound settings. Am waiting on a response from Sony Customer Service for 8 days now. (Case ID # 8667) Will be able to give more thorough review when I hear from them.
