THE PERFECT FIT

We were looking for a reasonably priced counter depth Side-By-Side Refrigerator. We looked at several options; however, the GE was the only unit that met all our shopping criteria. This allowed us to mover the larger refrigerator we already had into the garage and replace the one we have had for over 35-years.
If you are looking for something reasonable - Black in color - without a lot of unnecessary Hi-Tech features, we strongly recommend taking a look at this model1

Good refrigerator

I like my new frig but not as well as my old GE frig that lasted 19 years. The crushed ice feature is far inferior to my old one, which was still working great after 19 years. The water dispenser is slow to shut off, so I have to be careful not to pull the glass away too quickly. I so wish when a good company comes up with a well designed feature, they would stick with it instead of saving money to install something inferior. Also, my old frig slowly closed the door on it's own; this one is made to resist closing the door. I suppose that's for people who didn't want the door to close until they closed it, but this door has to be pushed shut each time.

Not worth the money

First refrigerator ...ice maker wouldn't crush ice plus scratching on both doors.

Fantastic Refrigerator

This is the finest refrigerator that I have ever owned. I have been using it for about four months and love it. I have owned two other brands in the last eight years and both failed miserably. This is a quality appliance and I am very pleased.

Stupid Interior Design, Aggravating Ice Maker

Because of size constraints, this model was my only option. The interior’s ceiling has a huge light, so you can’t fit many products on the top shelf. That means you have only one shelf to store pitchers, milk gallons, juice, etc. This is a ridiculous design flaw. Let’s go on to the freezer. It, too, has an overly large light on the rear interior wall. The light projects 4”, again limiting what you can put on those shelves. The ice-maker should be flush against the ceiling, but instead it is dropped 5-1/2 inches, creating a shelf too short to be useful. On the bottom is an odd-shaped basket—what for, I don’t know—and when you remove it, your storage space is limited by an obstruction solely for the basket. It is sloped, so you can’t store anything on that, either. That means you have a area 1’ x 1’ for storage, another stupid waste of space. As for the ice maker itself, if you want crushed ice, it dispenses many cubes that were stuck in the chute. If you want cubed, you get the crushed that was in the chute. That chute gets jammed frequently, so nothing comes out. You remove your glass as a result, and the jam releases, and you have ice all over the floor. Seriously, I hate this refrigerator. Please, if you don’t need to, go with something else. I want to add one more thing: I love GE. All my appliances are GE, and they have had long lives and no repairs. It’s just this one appliance where the designers fell down hard.

Plenty of storage

After 2 months the refrigerator has performed well. We would have liked a finish other than the smooth one it has as it shows finger prints easily.

Had almost identical model for 10-years which this replaced. This one has very poor light in lower area and is missing one lower shelf!

Super happy with new refrigerator

I had a GE Profile Refrigerator for 20 years and I decided to replace it before it died. GZS22DMJES is the only counter-depth, slate refrigerator that I could buy. It is much like the old one but has 1 less drawer in refrigerator. It seems to be working well and I like the features. I wish there were more grooves in the freezer so that I could buy an additional shelf. I wish that that the wheels locked to keep it from shifting too far back against the wall.
