We bought this and found that the storage inside was limited. The design was not optimized for the best usage of space.

BIG disappointment ! Wish I kept 13yr old GE

This refrigerator was bought to replace a 13-year-old GE profile cabinet depth refrigerator. I like the look of cabinet depth refrigerators in the kitchen. The old refrigerator was starting to have problems with the water control solenoid which was putting water out on the wooden floors. Given its age I thought it was time to purchase a new refrigerator with a full warranty.
I did my research online to find the latest GE refrigerators in cabinet depth categories. What I failed to take into account was a couple of things. One, there is no turbo cool on this new refrigerator. Two, there is no center drawer in the refrigerator side you are limited to two drawers instead of three that my old profile had. Three, there is a huge lack of lighting in this refrigerator with one light on the refrigerator side and two light bulbs on the freezer side which is better on the freezer side alone. On the refrigerator side though one light bulb at the top is nowhere near enough. My old profile refrigerator had a mid level light in the refrigerator section that illuminated everything much better in the lower part of the refrigerator. In fact in the new machine that I have now I can see the plastic plugs and the area where this chassis would be utilized for the much costlier version of this machine.
Moving onto the freezer side of the new refrigerator. My old machine that I purchased in 2004 had pullout baskets on the freezer side which seemed much more capable of holding larger amounts of frozen products.
Since the retailer where I purchased this refrigerator from did not have a floor model to look at I was guided in my choice by the pictures on the GE website along with other big-box retailers and appliance resellers. Frankly the pictures of this black refrigerator looked to be more of a matte finish or the old crinkle finish that many refrigerators utilize with the plastic skin on the machine. When the machine was delivered they removed the packaging material and I discovered that the doors are a high gloss black metal finish which is very beautiful. However; as any one can tell you a black metal finish will be a lot of work to keep clean and more importantly it can scratch and/or dent much easier than the plastic coverings on other machines.
Frankly I am thinking strongly about returning it to the appliance retailer that sold it to me, however; they want a 25% restocking fee!? You do the math on 25% of this listed purchase price.
Unfortunately, I think I'm just going to be stuck with this purchase that frankly I find to be a big step down from my prior GE refrigerator. It's pretty amazing that a expensive refrigerator has such major shortcomings. It works fine, it cools, dispenses ice, dispenses water, but I guess I'll just have to keep a flashlight in the refrigerator if I want to see what's in the bottom of the unit.
Over the last 30 years I have owned a vast array of GE appliances. Couple of refrigerators, couple of microwaves, couple of ovens, couple of cooktops, and a couple of dishwashers all from GE. Frankly, at this point I think I'm giving up on the GE product line and going elsewhere.

It lacks a drawer in both the refrigerator and the freezer. It is difficult to store food in it.

This fridge was put into our new home by our builder. I would never choose this fridge. It is extremely small. Every time a bottle of water ends up at the back of the fridge on the main level it's frozen solid in no time. The other thing I do not like is you can see the hand print EVERY time someone touches the fridge. We have a 2 year old...so the fridge constantly needs to be cleaned. Unhappy.

Great look to this unit. We had custom cabinets in our kitchen, and our previous GE refrigerator (which lasted 16 years) needed to be replaced. Luckily our old model was still in production, and we got a newer version of our old one. This one looks better, and the lighting inside the box - is great.

This model came with my home. Given the opportunity I would have upgraded. There is no meat/cheese compartment. It is too small If you put anything on the door it will not close automatically This is far too basic to be is a home of this price.

water filter is a disappointment

This is an OK refrigerator. The slate color is great and a nice improvement over the more commonplace stainless steel. The shelves are a little tight. we bought the counter level model and there is a bigger model but it wouldn't have fit. The filter for the water dispenser is supposed to last three months but we've owned ours for 4 months and have gone through 3 filters already. I would recommend the dealer. They've been fantastic in helping us and explaining the features and staying in contact with us, constantly following up
