We Don't Get Along....

Maybe I'm spoiled or whatever. But I loved and miss my old fridge. It was roomy and even the freezer compartment had lost of room. Even though it didn't have an ice maker or water line, it was still a work-horse of a fridge. Then we remodeled our kitchen. We wanted a counter depth fridge. Enter the GE side x side. Oh, it looks all pretty and sleek and all that. But it's stingy on storage space. And the freezer compartment is even worse. First of all, you got this monstrosity of an ice maker and water line. The whole unit takes up about a 1/4 of the freezer space at the top. This includes where the water and ice come out of the door. In the fridge compartment you have the water filter and all it's bulkiness taking up space...not to mention the fridge's light housing is huge and awkward. But my biggest peeve is the freezer storage. There's only a tiny, weird shaped wire basket at the bottom to hold your frozen peas or what have you. You'll be lucky if it can hold 3 or four frozen dinners without falling out. Then there's the shelves. Sorry but you just can't stack odd shaped packages and containers of food to freeze on shelves. Example; I harvested and juiced all this year's lemons from my tree. I portion the juice in freezer bags and stack 'em up...or I used to, anyway. I had to juggle and move stuff around in the freezer to make room for all my bags of lemon juice. I was lucky if I could store 3 bags on the freezer shelf before I'd run out of room and the bag o' juice would slosh and fall out onto the floor. All that to say: Why the heck didn't GE make storage baskets for it's freezer compartment instead of shelves?

Simple and Efficient

Got this about 2 months ago. Limited options because of our need for a built in. Looked at Frigidaire but felt this was build more solidly. It's very quiet and looks great. Doesn't have a deli tray, which we like, since we just keep a mall plastic bin for that. The ice dispenser required a bit of a learning curve, with cubes coming out too fast until you get used to it. We do find it running a bit cold in the refrigerator. Adjusted the temp, a few times.

Too small

Not enough bins in fridge or freezer. No separate bin for fruits. Builder chose this. I would not have done so. We have to use our other fridge to hold everyday things.

All Good Except Measurements
on February 21, 2016

Seems to be operating just fine but the only issue was the measurements. The height is not accurate as the wheels are not taken into consideration, they add a bit more height plus there are bolts on the hinges that stick up and at least 2 inches back so I had to cut my cabinets to make this fit. Also the depth needs to have the jut outs in the back added on, since my space was so exact it caused a problem for me as well, had to take sheet rock off the wall and move outlets. There are also no locks on the wheels or stabilizing legs (although shown on installation instructions) so the refrigerator rolls out at the bottom a bit. It's a good thing I am handy but my custom cherry cabinet overhead is ruined. Instructions are not that detailed, we still can't figure out how to pull the refrigerator shelves out.

When set on cubes, I mostly get "chunks" not cubes.
