Water filter rip-off

Generally works, but GE has put a little chip on their filters to block the use oF generic replacements for three or four times the price. The generics would work fine but GE has attached this chip to age out their filters and block the use of generics. Just another rip-off of their customers.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for connecting with us! We recommend that refrigerators with water filtration systems only use genuine GE Appliances water filters. These filters are certified to NSF/ANSI Drinking Water Treatment standards which ensure structural and safety standards are met.
We do not recommend using “generic replacements” or counterfeit filters, as these filters may make deceptive or faulty claims, potentially add harmful contaminants to the water, or even falsely claim to meet NSF/ANSI Drinking Water Treatment standards.

Beautiful looking. Door does not swing back which could cause dents. Adjusts itself to half open. Alarm sounds softly to remind one to close door. Great ice maker. Great refrigerator

Should be recalled

The refrigerator has limited space on the inside. The auger in the icemaker is plastic and the wheels on it break. It has happened to us twice in four years. The plastic pieces are dispensed along with the ice causing a swallowing hazard for the person drinking water or any type of liquid. Very dangerous.

The refrigerator is too small. It has only 2 drawers and the bottom drawer is only a half size. The outer sides of the shelves are too wide so lost space and the light hangs down too low so more lost space. I've had side by side refrigerators before and they were always much bigger and more useable space.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Needs more storage!

This replaced a GE side-by-side refrigerator that served us well for 18 years. Yes, 18!!! Basically, this is the same size and I am comparing this model to what we had. Good news: the handles are much less likely to show finger marks. However on the refrigerator side, it could use another low height drawer. The shelves are far enough apart to accommodate one. I have added my own plastic storage bin. There is not an in-door can holder feature. Missing that! On the freezer side, again there is room for another shelf! I have resorted to stacking food in tall piles...as well as adding a plastic storage bin. Bottom line: the space is there for more storage but GE chose not to use it.

I just received this refrigerator in my travel trailer on 12/2/23. The water dispenser will not turn off. The water continuously runs. I had to turn off the water valve to the refrigerator in the back.

Bad design

Terrible design regarding usable storage space inside refeigerator. There is no cheese/ meat drawer, no butter storage space, and top shelf for tall items is obscured by a dropped light. Really, what were you thinking?

Disappointing

I just received this refrigerator on 9/24
Unfortunately the lighting in the refrigerator is extremely poor. There is some light for the top shelf
Cannot see beyond that point. Very dark on the other shelves and drawers
There is no Deli drawer which definitely limits best use of space
The freezer space is very limited. The GE quality is no longer what was offered in the past and the price is high given the quality. I realize that this is not the GE profile I have had for several years however I expected more from GE
