In a world where every ounce of t.v. is provisioned by the "big" cable companies, it would be nice to get more free options, perhaps ordinary broadcast channels. 99% of what we see is not free at all, and yes, there are still ads one must be forced to watch. We simply don't see the value in owning this device.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello streaming, good bye Cable monopoly

I purchased the Roku 2 and it initially worked great; however I noticed the Roku light would stay on forever after turning off my TV. After about a month, I was having difficulty connecting "stopping at 25%, round and round" and it was very frustrating. I then realized to return to the Roku Home page, prior to turning off my TV. This enabled the light on the Roku 2 to go into sleep mode and the light turns off. Once I started to complete this task on a regular basis, I have not had any other concerns and the Roku 2 continues to be working properly w/o having any connectivity issues.
Thank you for such a wonderful product and I'm very grateful to have another option in watching TV w/o having to bow to the Cable or Dish companies already monopolizing the market. Much appreciated.

I upgraded an older XS2 model for the new Roku 2 and I could see how much faster the interface is compared to the older version.

Back in 2013, we were given a Roku 2XD; we absolutely loved it. About 3 years later we decided it was time for a new Roku. After doing research and checking out reviews (from cnet, pcmag, etc). We decided to stick with Roku 2 because of the price point and the fact its processor is the exact same as the Roku 3. It absolutely amazes me how responsive and quick it is. If you have an older version of Roku, I would highly recommend the Roku 2.

These combined with my HD antenna make watching TV so much better, and it surly beats those high cable and satellite bills. I recommend these to anyone who wants to cut their TV bill. Just make sure you have a decent internet connection
