We bought an AppleTV for our primary television streaming and a Roku2 for our workout room. The Roku is able to natively play Sling, which the AppleTV requires AirPlay to do, but so far the user-friendliness favors the AppleTV. The Siri Voice search options would be a great addition to the Roku and the interface is a bit plain. But overall it streams well and works fine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I watched CNN HD on cable vs Roku, Roku did not provide HD quality as my cable. I have 150MB download speed, and used direct connect.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Similarly priced as the Apple TV, I bought the Roku 2 for a guest room. It features Amazon Prime streaming which Apple TV does not. It was easy to install. The only confusion was there is no on/off button.

Bought roku 2 vs 3 or 4 based on having internet speed as fast as them at a lower cost. of course its easy to use also.

When you buy something, anything, it should at least live up to your minimum expectations. Roku, to my surprise, far exceeded ALL my expectations.
