Great for My Purpose

Some time ago, I purchased a Roku 3, primarily for playing music on thumb drives. Over 1,100 songs are on one drive so it takes a few minutes to download when switching from video to audio. When the new model Roku 2 became available, I learned its processor was as fast as the Roku 3 and basically, the differences were no headset with Roku 2 and changing channels through the remote required a direct line of sight. After learning more about the new Roku 2, I bought one to use solely for playing music and the Roku 3 will be used for video only. This also will provide a backup unit in case of need. It works great, serves my purpose very well and is less expensive than Roku 3 while providing almost all the same features.
My rating would have been 5 stars except for using the remote. Although not a major inconvenience, I've been spoiled by Roku 3's ease of use.

Works great and easy to use

Have a Roku stick and bought a Roku 2 for another TV. The Roku 2 boots up and works much faster and since the remote works by infrared, it doesn't have to link up by radio frequency like the stick 's remote does. Had trouble with the stick's remote linking. Spend the extra bucks and get the Roku 2, it's worth it.

Better than my previous Apple TV

I have owned several Apple TVs over the last several years. Recently, YouTube ceased to work on my first and second generation Apple TVs. I chose the Roku because it continues to allow me to access YouTube as well as my Netflix account seamlessly. Furthermore, I can pick and choose from a wide variety of apps to post to my home menu, unlike Apple TVs fixed menu. Intuitive and easy set up and to operate, it has convinced me that changing to Roku was a great choice.

I bought the Roku so that I could get rid of satellite. The monthly bill keeps going up and I want to discontinue it. I need to find a way to watch local channels but am satisfied with it right now.

Great experience, bad remote

I bought this a couple weeks ago. I bought it to upgrade an older Roku 2 XS model to one that is faster. The new Roku 2 is certainly faster! However, the old Roku 2 XS model has the RF remote. It works without having to be aimed at the Roku. The new Roku 2 has an IR remote, which only works if it is aimed directly at the Roku. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but it was very annoying. The IR isn't very precise and sometimes takes a couple of tries to get it to respond.
I just sold it to my brother and ordered a new Roku 3. He seems to love it, and it works better for him than it did for me.

I have owned a Roku 1 for almost a year and it let's me access all the entertainment I need without having to spend a fortune on cable and getting tied up in an expensive bundle package when all I need is internet. The Roku 1 is very basic but it still met my needs. For my birthday my mom got me a Roku 2 and it's features and content are superb in comparison. I am extremely happy with both of my Rokus.

If I could I'd give my Roku a 500. I love my Roku. I have three of them and just bought one for the office. The think I love the most about it is its versatility. I also love how easy it is to use. It's as close to plug and play as you can get outside of the network setup, which is VERY easy, but it's something you have to do.
