Not what I expected.

Roku advertises many TV and Movie options, but I have found that the movie selections are very poor. I was expecting to see movies that were first run movies about a year ago, but the majority of the movies I have found I have never even heard of and are what I would rate as "B" movies. I have not had much experience with the TV side of things since we are in the middle of the summer "off season" with only re-runs available until the fall lineup becomes available.
I have had good experiences with the History Channel and HGTV. My wife would like to see the Hallmark and Oprah channels in the lineup.

I got this Roku 2 free by signing up with Sling. It made connecting so much easier & more convenient than running Sling & Netflix through my phone or game system.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I got my Roku for my bedroom (we don't have cable) to watch shows before bed and for news in the morning. it worked great right out of the box. no problems. very easy even for an older person like myself. I just talked my daughter into getting one.

There is TV life beyond cable!

Could not be happier with the Roku 2. The addition of Sling TV, HBO and Netflix access made this the essential tool to finally ditch cable. We've been paying entirely too much for cable channels that we never watch just so we can get the premium stuff, but Sling's package nullifies that. Pretty much every channel we kept cable for is on Sling, meaning we have no use left for cable. It's amazing how much we don't miss it now.
More on the Roku itself. Roku's interface is VERY user friendly, and if you're not a heavy gamer, the Roku 2 is the best value. Elements load quickly, channel selection is easy, and you learn the button uses just by fooling around a bit on the first use (forget that silly instruction manual) Just be aware that the Roku sucks up a fair amount of bandwidth. If you're streaming live video on multiple devices and the Roku, you might run into problems, but that's an issue more with your internet than the Roku.
In summary, we are very pleased with the purchase and I can highly recommend the product to anyone that wants easy access to TV beyond cable.
