Easy to use

I wanted a device primarily to show MP4 videos and access Netflix other than with my laptop or tablet. It was easy to set-up and access apps to do what I want. It could use a audio button, but I understand the latest version has one. Great.

Far faster to respond to menu changes than either my Fire Stick TV or my SmartTV. Definitely the best buy for the money.

I bought this 3 weeks ago to work with a tv that isn't used all the time and we are so happy we got it. We can watch more channels then with our internet/tv service that we have.

The one and only Roku

After several months of frustration with picture glitches using an Amazon Fire Stick purchased with a 50% discount when it was released that were not resolvable despite HOURS of trouble shooting phone calls, we bought another Roku. Our initial Roku 3 (on another TV) was great - intuitive to use, great picture and maintenance free. The new Roku 2 is much faster and for the first time in months - our streaming movies have not suffered from incessant fits of stop and starting. At the the end - the Fire Stick with the March/April software upgrade was stopping for several seconds every other minute! Painful.
Only one minor complaint with the Roku 2 - the remote - unlike that of the Roku 3 is directional so you have to focus it on the unit instead of waving it around in the general direction of the TV.. Otherwise no issues. Great product.

Roku 2 Made My Life Much More Simple

My wife and I had struggled with an old model of a competitor streaming box. After a thorough internet search, we decided to purchase the Roku 2. WOW!! What a difference. The Roku 2 was simple to set up and the searching for each show/movie was fast and fun. Each shows sample photo was large and clear. Shows load quickly and we have experienced no buffering time.
We love it and I am sorry it took us so long to become a Roku 2 family.

i would keep the thing if it could support Cyrillic fonts - so i could search YouTube for any movies in Russian language...but it does not do it.. Why any Samsung blueray can and roku cannot - nonsense piece of electronics, we are in 2015 not 1990...

Glitchy remote

The Roku is great for turning my TV into a smart TV. I mostly just use it to watch Netflix. After about a week and a half I haven't investigated the other channels much yet. The remote does not work very well which is very frustrating! The remote is somewhat better with my phone, but still annoyingly unresponsive. This would get 5 stars if the remote worked better! Would love to hear some way to make the remote work better.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
