Lots of channels and something's on!

My mom and step-dad have had one for several years and it worked great. When I moved, I decided to purchase one for the living room and give my daughter the Wii for her room. Great idea - I now have lots of channels and something's on ~ unlike satellite TV where there's a gazillion channels and nothing's on!

Meets all my needs and easy to use and set up. If I was to change anything it would be to add a feature that enabled me to go to TV channels from the Roku control

Wish it was more like the Roku 3

I already have an old Roku 3 from a few years ago.
I bought the Roku 2 basic edition a few weeks ago.
Here are my thoughts on the roku 2:
Pro's:
1. As fast as the Roku 3.
2. Has seperate buttons for netflix, amazon, Rdio, and Sling (my old Roku 3 does not have these buttons). VERY handy!
3. Easy setup (same as Roku 3). (although, with both devices, it took 4-5 times to actually connect to my wireless router, from Comcast/Xfinity, all-in-one modem/router/wifi)
4. All the channels of the Roku 3.
Cons:
1. You have to pint the controller exactly at the spot on the Roku device where the wireless is located, otherwise it wont do what button you pressed. From far away (~15 feet), it is hit and miss. Closer (~6-7 feet) it takes the command almost every time.
2. The OK button is located in the middle of the arrow buttons (my old Roku 3 has the OK as a totally seperate button, above the Play/Pause button, below the arrows). I find the old way to be much more convenient, as I never accidentally click any of the arrow buttons.
I took 1 star off for each of the 2 cons.
It is a great device, but the Roku 3 is much better, and worth the extra money.

Really Fast Downloads

We had an older model Roku that gave great service, but downloads had become a little slow and sometimes dropped the internet connection. We put this down to an awkward layout of our wireless router and the Roku box. We upgraded to the latest version Roku box and wow, it really is blazing fast and troublefree.

I own an Amazon TV Fire Stick but it does not support the Time Warner Cable app. SO, my second Wifi TV device was the Roku 2 which definitely does run the TWC app as well as Amazon Prime, YouTube, Hulu, and all the others. It was easy to set up. I've read online that it tends to run hot, and there's no "sleep" option, so I just unplug it when I'm not using it. This probably isn't necessary but I feel better doing it.
