Who needs a smart TV

I bought this Roku for a new TV that I recently purchased. Why pay all that extra money for a smart TV when connecting a Roku is even better. I have had Roku's on all of my TVs for years. Basically I have had smart TVs before the term was popular.

I wanted a Roku 3 but was unable to get the remote to work, apparently because of radio interference from one or more wireless devices in my home. I returned the Roku 3 and purchased a Roku 2 hoping that because the remote works differently that it would work in my home. (The Roku 2 uses infrared instead of radio waves.) The Roku 2 remote worked just fine right out of the box. Picture and audio quality are excellent. Also, I no longer have a problem with buffering as I did while I used a Sony Blue Ray player for streaming via my home wife system.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is our second Roku; we bought a Roku 3 for our main TV a few months ago, and now a Roku 2 for our small one. They are similar in speed and convenience; I think I like the remote for the 3 a little bit better (it is a bit heavier and I like the 'OK' as a separate button instead of within the directional pad), but it's still good. The 2 is a bit cheaper than the 3 if that is a concern, but they are both good products.

A nice alternative to cable tv

We have only had our Roku2 for a couple of weeks, but we enjoy it as a nice way to eventually cut the "cable" cord. Cable gives us channels we never watch, so it's nice to be able to choose our own "package" of channels and shows to watch, and my wife is a big fan of Acorn already.
