Great streaming from upstairs. Only thing I would like to see is a separate optical audio output.

I've been using my Roku 2 for a couple weeks and couldn't be happier. Setup was a breeze, with WiFi or wired Internet connectivity. It has so many services I want - Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Sling TV. I'm also looking forward to watching NBA League Pass on my Roku in the fall! As of July, they don't offer HBO Now but I suspect that'll change soon enough. I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

I bought the Roku 2 because I have had enough of my cable company robbing me blind, and I'm cutting the cord on CATV. I researched and compared the Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, and even the new Google Nexus. Hands down, the Roku offered everything I wanted/needed. The Roku isn't much for gaming, and I am OK with that. My Wii, PlayStation, Laptop and Cell can cover that area. I've now had this for about 1 week. Setup was really easy if you know how to plug in two cords and follow simple onscreen directions. There are plenty of channels (>2000) that can be added to suit your tastes. Feature-wise, this is easily a 5-stars product.
My main issues (and why I would really give it 4.5 stars) are: 1. The remote. Distance and direction between the remote and the receiver are very sensitive. Sitting in my recliner about 12ft from the receiver with a direct line-of-sight, I have to aim the remote directly at the receiver for it to work. Sometimes I have to lean forward so the distance is <10ft. This becomes quickly annoying especially when you are entering usernames, passwords, or surfing through channels. My other remotes work fine even when angled toward the ceiling. I also wish the Channel Shortcut buttons were programmable, but that's just a preference not a necessity. 2. VUDU. Yeah, I use it. However, through the Roku, there are constant buffering issues. This becomes quite annoying when watching movies. My BluRay, Wii, Cells and Laptops all do not have this issue. It's strictly something between Roku and VUDU. Sure, I can use Flixster, but some of my movies don't show up through there. 3. I need separate accounts if I want to have certain channels on my Roku 2 but not on my son's Roku 1. Currently, I have both Roku under my account. If I add a channel to my Roku 2, it will also show up on the Roku 1 and vice versa. However, if I have separate accounts, I can specify what channels each Roku gets, BUT that means using two Email addresses and if I want both Roku to have some same channels I have to add the channel individually to each Roku account. Surely there could be a way to have both Roku under one account and choose which channels appear on each. For now, I just rearrange the channels on each Roku's home screen.
Overall though, I am very pleased with my Roku 2 (and my Roku 1 I got for my son's older TV). There are plenty of channels, movies, and TV shows available to keep the family entertained. There's no monthly fees for the Roku itself (just your normal subscription fees if you have Netflix, Hulu+, Amazon Prime, Sling TV, etc). It's definitely WAY cheaper (even with my subscriptions) than paying for cable and channels I don't watch.

My second Roku purchase. My first was Roku 2XD (3050X), and now Roku 2 (4210X), lovem both. Just wish they were CEC compliant or accept commands from other remotes.

I was having problems with Hulu Plus streaming with an LG Blu ray player that was driving me crazy. I would go to something I wanted to watch and it wouldn't load even with multiple tries. I researched this problem and bought a Roku 2 (2015 version). I got it in today and it is the best streamer I have ever used. Now I can relax and stream happily ever after. Thank you Roku !!!!!

I bought a Roku 2 approx. a month ago and am still trying to figure out what I can actually stream for free. Seems everything is a monthly subscription. I was told if I got a Roku that I could stream everything vertically free. Not the case and finding it very hard to find this info anywhere.
