great way to make your TV into a SMART TV

I bought this to use with my new Hitachi 55" screen and it is working well. Currently I am using it with Youtube, Facebook, Comedy Central, Vudu, TED, Tubi, WSJ, Crackle, Gopro, PBS, Vevo, Facebook, Smithsonian, Veiwster. I'm not yet using any paid servies like Netflix, Google Play, Showtime or Hulu plus.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I an not sorry at all the I purchased the Roku 2 and I wish I had about this early then I did as it is a great product and a lot of people are certainly missing out.

easy to upgrade from 1 to 2

Since I have 3 things to do I can't give a honest opinion I won't really see the impact until I turn on the NHL which is in October. I have already completed the 1 and 2.. 1) Roku 2) Upgrade network capacity to 20 Mbs .
One drawback is break to go out and retrieve an ad from a separate server know doubt. Interferes with all Roku's...... In the Future may I suggest that you load the ads first store it and when The ad call comes dump it from memory or put an ad call 1 minute from the ad server Roku does the call and saves it in the buffer.

Had Seagate I bought years ago for netflex,this is by far the best wish i threw away the seagate years ago.Its hooked up Ethernet so its really fast, love it. Thanks for great product.

Great for Netflix but not for My Storage Device

I bought the Roku 2 both for streaming from Netflix but also for viewing movies from a usb stick or storage device. While this was possible, the performance of this feature was very poor. I've been using an LG product for several years, which is starting to go bad. I was hoping the Roku might be a replacement option. But the LG I purchased in 2012 performed much better, even with it's own small problems. I'm very surprised Roku has not come out with a player that can handle playing movies from a usb stick or hard drive with ease. I returned the Roku and will stick with the LG.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nothing is free

Received it as a gift with the hope it would replace cable TV. Disappointed to find that the various offerings cost money. Tried popcorn flix because a movie was free as long as you watch commercials. Not bad except that picture was scrambled right after some commercials
