Works well, with one exception...

My experience with the new Roku 2 has been mostly positive with one notable exception. Screen mirroring did not work very well (or work at all, for that matter). My Windows 8.1 laptop initially failed to recognize the device, and when it finally did (after about 3-4 resets of the Roku box and 1 reboot of the laptop), it started initializing the mirroring and then froze. That is about as far as I ever got. During subsequent attempts, the laptop was again unable to connect to the device. The same goes for my Android 5.0 phone - it was never able to recognize the Roku box. In all fairness, Roku does state that screen mirroring is in beta, but I still expected it to be more mature than it actually is. Other than that, all other features that I tried (e.g., Netflix, YouTube, Plex etc.) worked very well.

We were streaming with our Wii but some channels were constantly loading. So we figured we should try this out rather than buying a smart tv for 20x the price. We have a little bit of retrieving but nothing compared to the wii and the recovery time is light years faster. Not to mention the picture quality and ease of browsing has greatly increased. Set-up was a breeze, and the family is pretty content. Definitely glad we made this purchase.

Easy to install and use

Great streamer. Took no time to set up and is easy to use. We purchased for our lake house that is not used all the time. Decided to take the cable out because it works so well.
