Cut the cable

We got rid of the ridiculous cable bills a couple years ago. Went with Hulu, Netflix and an HDMI hookup through my laptop. Then I bought a new TV and got a ROKU. We now have all the viewing we need and then some, without a huge cable bill and lots of channels of junk. Bought a second ROKU for another TV so we are set.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The player meets technical expectations. 720p is handled smoothly and without glitches. I cannot currently comment on 1080p. For comparison my base data rate is 25Mbps.
Installation and setup mostly fall under the we've-done-this-before category. If the router is using DHCP then connection to a local subnet involves nothing more then plugging in an ethernet cable. Wireless appears to be insignificantly more difficult.
Set up is supplemented by prompts and additional help on the Roku web site.

The GUI interface is easy to use.
Roku has made it very easy to set up accounts with Netflix, M-GO, amazon and many others via the Roku player. With access to multiple streaming services the available selections increase and finding the lowest price for a movie becomes very simple. And there are more streaming services (channels) available then I'll ever use. Some, such as "Bobs' Home Movies" , less likely then others.
E-mail notices arrive promptly for each charge by a streaming service. I like this verification.
The player runs VERY warm. I'd suggest locating it accordingly.

We are happy that we purchased the Roku2 since the kids took off with the XBOX. We have Netflix and Amazon, so we can see a variety of movies in addition to what is free. It is easy to set up and use.

It keeps stalling and it can not pick up the remote signal. Unless you are only 2 feet away....
