I am still reviewing and playing with it. I did buy stick for my son for his birthday. The only thing I don't like doing is changing from my HDMI to TV mode. Why doesn't it shut off?

Exactly What I Wanted!

I am no expert with technology, but I finally cut the cable cord. With decent internet service, I have Roku, Sling, and Netflix, as well as an OTA antenna, and this is everything I want at this point when it comes to watching the television. Roku makes everything a lot smoother and reacts much more quickly than my television would on its own. I have only had Roku for two weeks, but it has been great so far and I look forward to using it for years to come.

Can easily be replaced with the common household's playstation or xbox which unfortunately for Roku already exists within most if not all homes. Apps may be "free" but most subscriptions (which is how you watch things through the apps) are not, therefore you end up paying something anyway. But if you aren't a gamer and do not might using some pocket money Roku is a great way to have to stream Netflix and other subscription services to some bigger tv's that dont have the capability of mirroring your laptop,tablet, and/or smartphone.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am very happy with my purchase of the roku 2! It has many channels that make my choice of cutting the cord an easy transition.

Good concept, poorly executed details

It's great for apps such as Netflix, but to watch normal TV the Roku player is not ideal. You have to purchase an additional app to watch live TV, which relies on the Internet connection the Roku is hooked up to. In this case, the ability to view live TV fully depends on how strong your internet connection is at that point in time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So Far, Pretty Good

Although I have limited bandwidth where I live (DSL, 1.5Mbps), I'm still able to view very good quality Standard-def programming. I'm still getting used to menu-driven watching (as opposed to just "seeing what's on"). If we can eventually connect at a higher bandwidth, I'll submit an updated review.
