been looking at options to "cut the cable" and adding a Roku 2 player was by far the best choice .. this along with Sling TV, Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu and a few other choices is already saving me money

Roku1: works better. Roku2: few good features

I have the Roku1 and Roku2. I think the Roku1 is better in many ways however the Roku2 has some cool new features: 1) it has "hot buttons" that take you directly to Netflix, Amazon and 2 others. 2) it has a quick and easy way to turn on/off closed captioning without having to stop your movie, 3) the auto play when watching a tv series on Netflix, i.e., when episode 1 ends it automatically starts episode 2.
The cons (vs Roku1): 1) the Netflix layout is weird and it is difficult (or not as easy as Roku1) to read the screen. 2) the remote control sensitivity isn't as good as Roku1. Sometimes you have to be aiming the remote in just a certain way or else the receiver won't pick up the signal. I like the Roku1 remote sensitivity much better.
Regardless of the comments and comparison to Roku1 I would still recommend buying a Roku. I recently bought a Samsung BluRay player with a built in Netflix, etc., service option and it was awful. The system moved slowly, couldn't connect to my internet, was difficult to use and the remote was to busy -- rightly so, because it's also controlling a BluRay, tv, etc., but it made me miss my Roku.

I had not previously considered Roku, as my LG SmartTV had Internet streaming. Then I received a letter from Amazon that they no longer would be available on LG. After comparison , I decided on Roku. I am very pleased, after one week. Color is crisp and I don't have streaming interruptions as I did with my smart tv dongle. I would rate 5 stars all around if it could only receive local broadcasts as well.

Easy to set up!

Purchased Roku 2 several weeks ago. First, very easy to set up with wifi connection. amazing amount of shows . I had a little trouble downloading the tv shows to the player. turns out I had to do it manually. When all is done , to works great ! super shows and classic tv just the way I Like it. Thanks.

We received our Roku 2 from hulu because our blu-ray player could no longer play it, and I am pretty happy with it. Wish we could change the display type to SD though. On/Off switch would be nice too.
