Live in a signal-heavy apartment, but despite having a tested wifi speed of 25mbps and single strength of only -30db on a mostly empty band, the Roku was incapable of streaming content from any provider for longer than 5 minutes at a stretch without rebuffering (at best) or completely freezing up (at worst). The device fundamentally did not do the single task it was designed to do. Returned for refund.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased my Roku 2 about 2 weeks ago. It was easy to activate. I have watched a few movies with no problem. I hope to enjoy it for years to come.

I did away with Direct TV over a year ago after the kids left for college because I was tired of having to pay for channels that I did not want and felt it was a big waste of money. I received my Roku a few months ago as a gift and now I get to choose my channels for little or nothing, I can watch movies, full episodes of shows, and lots of news and home improvement/food channels, whatever interests me.. It's my choice!!

Great way to replace cable/satellite TV

Had the Roku 2 for 1 week now, and it is easy to setup and use. There are a number of subscription services offering free trials (12/2015), so this is a great time to buy. A large amount of programming is available through purchase or subscription. Limited (short) commercials (tells you how many ads there will be. Quick streaming speeds.

Channel surfing couldn't be easier. It's very simple to navigate. Huge selection of movies and the free channels are fantastic! Definitely always something to fall asleep to.

The server was down when I bought this for my 11 year old for her room. So it took them two days before we could actually use it. After that, though it's easy to use and seems to be one of the best to stream HD. We have subscriptions to Netflix and Hulu, so she watches both of them and her favorite people on Youtube and she's a happy camper!

I was torn on which streaming device to buy until I read the CNET review on the Roku 2. CNET said it beat all the options so I bought it and have not been disappointed. I'm cutting the cord on cable and even with HULU, AMAZON PRIME and SLING I'm still saving a boatload of $$$! You can't go wrong.
